They're Coming... More Scourge are finished, and there's more on the way! Above we have the first new infantry squad from my recently acquired extra starter set. I need to do their transport, but the grunts are done so... Second, a small squadron of Reaver Gunships. I've had these guys almost as long as I'd had the Destroyers, and it's taken about as long to paint them thanks to the Destroyers killing my joy for Scourge for a while. Done now though, and another jump in my counts!

Well, I've fallen headfirst into Dropfleet Commander. On Saturday there was a person at my Friendly Local Game Store who was representing Hawk Wargames and doing demo games for Dropfleet Commander. He was offering the UCM dogtag to the winner of the match, which I won by the skin of my teeth. I fell in love with the game and the next day got the UCMF starter box.

The Scourge Dreadnaught is finally complete! As with the PHR, I’m using the engine colour-fade of the scourge for their angle of fire indicators- the default black-on-black is too hard to see, in my opinion, and it adds a nice touch to the fleets.

Anyway, I’m super-proud of this! I love how thoroughly insectile it’s turned out, which is why I absolutely had to photograph the bottom, because there’s some beautiful modelling there that the iridescence really picks out wonderfully. The front ‘wings’ are magnetized, though I haven’t painted the alternative set yet- I will probably save that for if/when I want to play around with different fleet builds.

And another! This is the tester, and first of four Scourge Fast Movers (kind of offensive aircraft) for my DzC force.

Corsairs, as they’re named, are designed to slipstream enemy Fast Movers on intercept duty and bring them down. Haven’t had a chance to test them out yet though!

The Mining Base (large orbital object) for Dropfleet Commander! As I said, I doubt I’m going to be wargaming anytime soon, but it can be a shelf piece or a donation to a local group- Maybe I’ll even sell it. Selling my work would be an odd feeling.. Maybe a good one?

Anyway, it needs some struts, and then it’s prettymuch finished. Not doing any lighting, since DFC has all sorts of situations where the lighting might come from anywhere, and the little antenna lights are too small for any Object Source Lighting shenanigans.

The parts used were:

Polystyrene balls (varying sizes)

Papier Mache

Cocktail Sticks (to hold internals together while the glue set, and reinforce VVV)

Squared Dowelling Rods

Garden Wire

Parts from the Dropfleet Commander Space Station kit.

I can tutorialize this if there’s interest, but I’m very happy with how it turned out.
