The Host (Strike Lord and Steelback Warriors) were introduced in The Uncanny X-Men 269, cover date October 1990. They were created by Chris Claremont and Jim Lee. The issue also featured the Shadow King possessing Doctor Moira MacTaggert, Amanda Sefton, Legion/David Haller, Jacob Reisz, and Ms Marvel/Carol Danvers. The issue was the lead into Rogue and Magneto's adventures in the Savage Lands. It also saw Rogue lose the powers she stole from Ms Marvel, her learning of the supposed death of Mystique, and the Reaver's (Lady Deathstrike/Yuriko Oyama, Bonebreaker, Pretty Boy, Donald Pierce, Wade Cole, Angelo Macon, Murray Reese, and Cylla Markham) had taken over the X-Men's Australian base.
