Top 5 Houlihawk Episodes (as voted by mashblr) #3: C*A*V*E
tbh you know what would be....super interesting. is to give margaret houlihan the situation leonard mccoy was in with his dad (uhhh spoilers for star trek v: the final frontier, i guess, although it came out in 1989 lmao), except rather than as a backstory, setting it after the end of the war.
her dad - this larger than life man to her - gets sick. it's a terminal illness, and the doctors can't help him, and this man that shaped her entire childhood (her entire life), this man she loves and respects (and resents), this man she's spent her entire life clawing desperately to get love and respect from - suddenly he's weak, and small, and - and frail. he's slipping away before her eyes.
but not fast enough.
he's in so much pain, and he wants it to stop.
he wants her to make it stop.
and she's a nurse, she's supposed to take care of people, she's -
(you're a nurse / i'm his daughter)
idk i think it'd really, really hit, tbh.
(does hawkeye come and stay with her and her dad through the worst of it, does he know what she does (agree to euthanize her father) but never say anything, does she know he knows but they never talk about it? yes to all of the above, almost definitely)
ship game: hawkeye and loretta
..........i assume you mean hawkeye and margaret? because i would not ship hawkeye and loretta swit lmao i don't mix fictional characters and rpf like this. but YEAH i love qpr hawkmarg <3
Ship It
1. What made you ship it?
he's bi and have some gnc going on, she's hopefully also bi and deviates from 1950s gender norm. he's into people who keep leaving him, she stays the whole time for. he's got a solidly grounded identity as hawkeye and would never change for anyone, she's in search of an identity undefined by men. someone else said they are girlfag and boydyke which is 100% correct. they start as enemies and threeleven years later end up as besties. they would make an excellent qpr even if they don't know what qpr is. "i understand you in a way few other people can" that's them to me
2. What are your favorite things about the ship?
they're narrative foils of all time imo, and i love smashing two narrative foils together. they challenge each other so nicely!! hawkeye and his sexism, margaret and her army-loving ways. top tier dynamic tbh
3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?
not really, except i firmly prefer them as qpps over traditional boyfriend/girlfriend or husband/wife. free them both from the institution of marriage!!!
ask me!!
one thing about me is i go absolutely bonkers insane for characters with objectively the same qualities but in the exact opposite direction . take hawkeye and margaret . both of them are talented . dedicated to their role . they’re both very smart . they both fall in love easily . they’re both very snappy and witty with their replies . they both know how to get what they want . yet in their demeanor they’re almost completely opposite from each other — destructive , rebellious hawkeye versus orderly , respectable margaret . yet sometimes we see a bit of margaret bleed through in hawkeye and hawkeye bleed through in margaret . because at heart they’re similar , it was just matters of circumstance . and holy shit they’re still friends — you are all i could have been , i love that i am not you but i love you anyways .

friendships: margaret houlihan & hawkeye pierce
We made it. Boy, we are really brave. Yeah, well, let's just keep thinking that. Joan of Arc. How did you know? It's easy. Who else would you be thinking of in the last five minutes?
