Did you know the T-Rex lived closer to the creation of the ipad than it did to when a stegosaurus walked the earth? That's pretty cool imo! The Stegosaurs were already fossils when T-Rex came along with its itty bitty arms (hence why t-rex couldn't dig up the fossils - terrible arm reach for the tools!) I'm English & have parents who are both chefs... so yes to salt in porridge & water when cooking (and bravo for making the point to not put it in when cold!). The fact that people make the choice, not from health reasons, to leave salt out is a bit of a shock for me. Also, putting tea in bone china before the milk (presuming it comes from a teapot) could lead to staining of the chinaware as well as cracking. IMO that's the only reason to ever put milk in first ;)

I was genuinely surprised by the number of people who a) were unaware of it and b) downright affronted by it, like it’s just one of those things I was always taught to do, both at home and at work.

Ahh yea, I used to work in a Victorian tea house and we were forever scrubbing the china with salt to get the stains out, but our primary concern was always cracking, cause that was the most likely thing to happen. I dunno if you’ve ever seen fine porcelain explode but let me tel you, it pops like the world’s sharpest projectile balloon,
