i don't want to reblog OP because i haven't been back long enough to know who they are and where they stand on the Discourse™ and i frankly don't care but i'd rather avoid conflict where i can.

however i do have to say that "i hope this character that is incredibly important for the plot stay still in this foreign place they only went to as part of their character development arc and is clearly meant to move on from only because i think it would make their fans and supporters mad even though it would completely stall the story" has to be one of the most bizarre takes i've seen in any fandom.

imagine being like "yes, i hope the author disregards every bit of foreshadowing they have planted for this character and their importance in the upcoming books thus fucking up the entire story just to annoy her fans" as a "fan" of said story lmao

like, y'all would rather the books go to shit like the show did just so you can one up the group of people who constantly remind you how batshit crazy your takes and theories are because you guys deep down know we are right and the girlie you have spent years mischaracterising as a protagonist isn't more than a supporting character 😐

i honestly was expecting worse and even though harry's acting feels like he's just himself doing a bad impersonation at times it's not entirely terrible. it's just weird because none of the three main actors feel like they're supposed to be acting in the same film, it truly feels like they were all given different directions and the movie feels like a collage of weird acting and even weirder setting.

and as much as i would love to defend miss girlboss olivia wilde, she's the director and the result is obviously the director's failure. i don't think she knew where she was taking this movie and it's pretty obvious when you watch the end result. it feels like three different movies all rolled into a very mediocre and confusing one.

anyway i’m over at @edwardsnortons now and i’ve been watching tony movies and getting # emo so i just wanted to come back and say:

1) thanks for putting up with my overdramatic ass and

2) i love tony with all my heart and soul and i’m very appreciative of how much support i got for being an obsessive weirdo

i miss posting about tony and i’m leaving this blog up just for those tony purposes although i really hate how many mental breakdowns have been recorded on here lol

but i’m doing better and i don’t think i can ever really go back to posting about anthony perkins full time since he was a coping mechanism in a really bad part of my life but whatever.

"conventions have always worked like that"

they literally didn't. i've been to several supernatural conventions between 2012 and 2018, arguably the height of the show, and have bought photo op tickets on three occasions. on all three of those occasions photo op tickets were a limited number and many of us bought photo ticket without even having a convention ticket yet because they're always in high demand; and when i got to my photo i not only had time to hug misha and jensen and tell them how much the show meant to me but i got to give them gifts and ask for a pose. the entire experience was maybe three minutes max but there was a human connection and element to it. they were part of it and not just props.

for the conventions joe has been going to there's been either no limit for photo op tickets which leads to the conveyor belt like situation from the video, or the limit has been in the hundreds. in one of his first conventions the photo op ran for literally hours. he's no longer even allowed to talk to the fans anymore because he has to go through so many of them it's ridiculous.

i understand he's a newish celebrity and that the convention industry is trying to recover from the covid hiatus but treating the actors like they're props and not human and treating fans only as money cows is not okay. give the man a break and limit the number of photo op tickets. if they have to be more expensive so be it but for goodness sake treat the poor guy as human.

it seems like this is a conversation we keep having year after year but with pride month coming let me remind you all that while kink and BDSM have a long history with the LGBTQIA+ community, the key component of both kink and BDSM is consent and you should never play a scene in public where not everyone had consented to be a part of or to witness it thus making it unethical for you to actively practice them at pride celebrations.

kink and BDSM gear are okay to wear at pride celebrations because of the long, rich, interconnected history between the kink community and the LGBTQIA+ community, but things like acting pet play scenes (for example: walking on leashes) are just not okay unless you have everyone's consent for it, which you don't. there's a reason there's separate pride celebrations for kink, because that way you do implicitly have everyone's consent, because they're in a safe space designated for kink.

this isn't about sanitizing pride or erasing queer history, is literally about respecting people's boundaries because yes, some queer people find liberation in kink, but a whole lot of people don't and they're both valid. you can't expect everyone to like BDSM displays and for you to rob them of the opportunity of celebrating at pride because you've made it uncomfortable for them by a playing a scene in public without people's consent is bad practicing (because BDSM should always be safe, sane and consensual and if you're not getting people's consent you're a shitty person) so don't be fucking surprised people don't want you there, you're literally not respecting them.

kink is part of queer liberation, but actively practicing in a public space without everyone's consent is shitty behaviour. don't fucking do it.

and because i know someone's gonna start shit in the notes of this post: i'm literally part of the kink community both privately and professionally, and as a sêx wôrkēr who's part of the queer community it does make me uncomfortable seeing people acting scenes at pride because i haven't consented to that, because it's not the appropriate space for that.
