“You grab the drinks, I’m gonna change real quick,” Hayley grinned as she disappeared into their bedroom, lifting her shirt over her head. Now, if she could just find a clean t-shirt…
The doorbell rang, emitting a cheery sound to let them know someone had arrived. Who could that be, so late at night?
“I’ll get it,” Hayley reappeared, not bothering with a shirt. If it was anyone she knew, they wouldn’t care. If it was a stranger… well, it served them right to get a surprise, disturbing their night in.
Hayley flung the door open, a big smile on her face, though it was slightly forced. When she saw who it was, however, her grin widened. “Sahalia! Hi!”
The asari woman leaned forward for a hug, embracing the smaller woman easily, almost lifting her off the floor. “Hello! Sorry to barge in to late, but I overheard Samir earlier saying you were having a movie night. Without me.” She grinned widely.
“We sure are.” She turned around, searching for Chanyi. “Hey, guess who’s here.”
Chanyi appeared, arms full with movies and drinks - both alcohol and juice. “Oh my gosh, hey.” She struggled for a moment to put everything down on the glass side table before rushing over, pulling Hayley and Sahalia in for a group hug.
Hayley laughed, shaking her head. Sometimes, Chanyi was more like a kid than an adult, even if she was older.
“So, what movies are on tonight, then?”
The three made their way to the sofa. Hayley all but collapsed, eager to start, while Sahalia elegantly lowered herself onto the other side.
“Well, there’s Blasto vids - Rhona’s obsessed, I feel so bad for Samir - and some cheesy comedies.” Chanyi settled herself in the middle of the sofa, grabbing the remote.
“Blasto? It’s been a while since I’ve seen one of those,” Sahalia commented with a smile.
Chanyi put the first movie on - Blasto, of course, ‘borrowed’ from Rhona’s collection on the Montgomery. Not that she would mind - Rhona had borrowed their things enough times.
They started watching the movie in comfortable silence, but by the end, they were chatting away, hardly paying attention to the flatscreen. Sahalia told them all about her day at the bar - she received a very nice tip of two-hundred credits from an attractive krogan man, and a cute asari had offered to buy her a drink.
By the time the drinks were gone and the movies had all been watched - if occasionally paying attention counted as watching, anyway - they were all exhausted.
“I should get going,” Sahalia yawned as she stretched, slender arms reaching far above her head. Her long lashes batted her cheeks as she half-closed her eyes.
“But you’re place is ages away,” Chanyi insisted, “you might as well stay.”
“You only have one bedroom.”
Hayley shrugged. “King sized bed. We’d all fit… probably.” Hell, if Cammy could share a bed with an eight foot, nine-hundred pound krogan, the three of them could make do.
Sahalia only paused for a moment before grinning and nodding. “Fine by me. Can I borrow something to sleep in? I don’t think this,” she gestured to her skintight red dress, “is exactly ideal.”
“Sure, I’ve got shirts that’ll fit.”
Ten minutes later, Sahalia was wearing one of Hayley’s much too big t-shirts with a big smiley face on the front. It looked ridiculous, but kind of adorable.
Chanyi flopped onto the bed, claiming the entire left side. She would need it, considering how she slept; splayed out like a starfish. A moment later Hayley joined her, snuggling into Chanyi’s side. Her short hair would have tickled Chanyi’s face, had her mask not been in the way.
Then Sahalia padded over, tossing the covers back to climb into the right side of the huge bed. “Thanks for letting me stay,” she smiled, pulling the sheets up to her shoulders. “And you were totally right, there’s more than enough room. As long as no one hogs space or sheets, we should be fine.”
Hayley side-eyed Chanyi, who looked back innocently. “Well, I don’t, anyway.”
Chanyi leaned over to flick off the beside lamp. “Night all.”
“Night,” Hayley and Sahalia chorused back as they were plunged into darkness.
It felt, nice, Sahalia thought, sharing a bed with two of her best friends. Even if it was totally platonic - because let’s face it, those two were too cute together for her to get in the way - it was comforting to know someone else was there.
