Things have been buzzing lately for Philadelphia haze pop quintet Cheerleader. Last week they were one of the first two artists confirmed to play Firefly Music Festival this June, and this weekend they played two big shows. On Saturday the band was part of a bill that included Walk the Moon, Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness, Cold War Kids, Gaslight Anthem, and fellow Philadelphian indie poppers, CRUISR, and on Sunday, they co-headlined a Firefly-affiliated show at the Trocadero Theater with Philadelphian hip-hop artist, Chiddy Bang.

In addition to their live appearances, the band announced earlier today they will be supporting British rock royalty, The Wombats on their North American Spring tour, as well as sharing their new single, “The Sunshine Of Your Youth”.

The Sunshine Of Your Youth is a 90s tinged pop rock anthem that is as arena-ready as it is charming. Driven by it's powerful indie rock guitar progressions and its early 00s rock sounding hooks, the song tackles the crippling subject matter of how brief a human life is, and how important it is to live in the moment. “You know that it's useless looking back / There's no redemption there for you” lead singer Joe Haller sings during the chorus, which would fit perfectly into a song by Alternative rock legends, The Killers.

While Cheerleader's debut single, “Perfect Vision” was breathtaking (and still is), and the “On Your Side” EP also showed great promise for the band's future, The Sunshine Of Your Youth has showed the band is really just getting warmed up, and are just beginning their journey of becoming future stars (pun absolutely intended).
