See, the thing is, Crowley displays some demonic traits like the eyes and being constrained by the wards and being cruel and all, but there are a lot of things that just don’t add up about his character if you think of him as a demon. I think I posted about this a ways back, but what other demon have we seen with red smoke? No demon, no matter how powerful or specialized, has had differently-colored smoke, from Alastair to Lilith to Azazel to Abbadon. Crowley talks about Metatron like he has personal knowledge of the angel, knew Samandriel as angel instantly and knew his name despite the angel taking a vessel mere hours ago, can apparently translate Enochian on the fly, and knew Naomi in Mesopotamia. Maybe he’s not an angel - not anymore - but he’s definitely not a 17th-century Scottish tailor.
