"Edwin, though he didn’t much like to admit it, was rather enjoying the nineties. The rigid edges of propriety had been sanded off of London over the last seventy-six years, bringing a roughness to the public arena that fascinated him. Women wore trousers, for one thing, and not even proper trousers as that! They tore the linen at their knees on purpose, willfully destroying their own clothes for the sake of fashion. Men smoked cigarettes everywhere they went, only using pipes to take in mysterious substances other than tobacco. Every shop seemed to have been vandalized with colorful writing on the outside, and nobody seemed to be bothered by this in the slightest. It was a new world, unrefined and exhilarating.
And then. Also. Charles was there,
Charles made the nineties much more interesting."
- Like Fool's Gold by RoseGanymede95 (Part 1 of Who? You mean your teammate in the Codependency World Cup?)
I've never in my life drawn out comics before, but because RoseGanymede95 dropped one of the most bangin fic series I have ever read in my life, I had to try experimenting 2 see if I'd like to draw out some of my favourite moments in their fics
I really miss them
Payneland / Painland Week Day 4: Silly Traditions
They snogged after.
Time for my HCs:
On one of their early agency anniversaries in the 90s, Charles introduced Cluedo to Edwin (not knowing how to play the game either. just that it was the principle of the whole detective thing, innit). And Edwin loved the goddamn game so much that the boys declared it their staple anniversary ritual. On the next anniversary, it was Edwin who started the annual tradition of collecting strange Cluedo editions by surprising Charles with a Greek version of Cluedo he found somewhere.
From then on, the boys challenged each other every year to find the most obscure version of Cluedo they could. (Except it transformed into a challenge of finding a Cluedo edition the other would love)
Winner gets bragging rights
and this absolutely is an entirely plausible tradition for two immortal boys to uphold over 30 years because there are more than 133 editions of Cluedo that exist
Payneland / Painland Day 7 : Free Day
Two boys distracted by each other in their element amidst cases
genuinely been AGES since ive drawn on a daily basis, this little dbda event was so fun to take part in <3
Painland / Payneland Week Day 2: Old Married Couple
My respective headcanons are:
In the early days, Charles would always fix Edwin's bowtie whenever the former noticed it got a bit crooked, since he knew Edwin was pretty particular about that sort of stuff. But during cases, the bowtie would get crooked every 10 minutes that Charles just gave up. But he'd still fix up Edwin's bowtie before setting off on cases, out of habit.
Whereas for Edwin, Charles seemed to like having his collar popped up. That's it. That's the reason. Edwin doesn't quite understand the appeals of 80s fashion, but if it made Charles look cool and happy, Edwin would keep Charles's collar popped up by whatever means necessary.
and yeah, you can start expecting me to be a day late for my Payneland week art
Payneland / Painland Week Day 3: Almost Kiss
they're BEST MATES doing BEST MATE activities, girls!
the first image is in Niko's POV, but it's funny to think it in the boys' POV after excessive romantic anime binge watches
