It's Sept 1st now. But late better than never. So I made a quick art for our king's birthday.
Note: This is a quick art for me. It took me about 4 hours to finish it. Perhaps I should make quick works more. As I'll need speed painting skills to finish my various WIP with arts I created.
Its the last day of August! Celibrate Noctis' birthday with me by indulging in some headcannons. Here we go:
1) Noctis suffers from clinical depression.
This one is fairly obvious. Noctis general lack of emotion. Low energy. How Ignis seems to need to prompto him to do anything like eating or taking care of himself. Growing up with your Dad being the King is hard enough. But a week King? Regis is actively limping and has to wear a knee brace. Can you imagine what kind of things were said about his father behind his back? Or how the media treats him? Not to mention that we can see that the Ring- or casting the wall- wears down on a person over time. So Noctis probably grew up with some knowledge that his Dad was suffering to some degree. Judging by Noctis' decline in Ignis' brotherhood episode, Noctis basically shuts down after just seeing Regis having to use a cane to walk. My boy doesn't need Ignis to take care of him becausehe is lazy. Noctis needs Ignis because sometimes he litterally can't do anything but dissociate and hate himself.
2) Noctis is Ace/Asexual/Aspec
I know this is rich coming from me (almost all my current stories have him being really active). But Noctis to me actually comes off as someone who knows about sex, but has no desire to pursue it or any kind of relationship. He has a lot going on. The guy doesnt seem all to exited about his marriage. I think he's rather relived if anything, that its Luna and not someone stranger. He also seems a little guilty about it as well? Like he thinks he might be holding her back? Depends on how you interpret some lines. He doesn't seem interested in anything is what I am saying though. Which is why I think this.
2) Noctis and Prompto are both touch starved, so they cuddle with each other a lot.
I'm a low key fan of touch starved stories. Noctis as a prince probably doesnt have a lot of people hugging or embracing him. Prompto as a lonley child does not get a lot of skin contact as well. The two of them spent most of their afternoons tangled up on a couch playing video games. I am rabid for this idea. When Noctis is feeling iritated Prompto will just lay ontop of him while he is pouting. When Prompto is feeling sad he will put his head in Noctis' lap and ask for his hair to be played with. Also: Ignis is also touch starved but he suffers from it more because he is a prude. Gladio more often then not pulls him into the cuddle piles when he seems to be getting overwhelmed.
3) Noctis uses the Armiger and his magic for a large variety of utilities.
Noctis stores the camping gear in his Armiger. But it can also store food, water and whatever else they need. He charges their phones using elemental electic energy. Ignis' stove runs off similar fire energy. Their water supply is based off the ice energy he collects. Ignis might do the cooking and Gladio might pitch the tent; but Noctis powers the entire camp with his magic power. This exhaustes him quite a bit. Noctis is usually the first to sleep and the last to wake up.
4) Noctis is really into foraging, and hiking
Why else would you spend so many hours running around and going out of your way to pick up peppers or shiny rocks. Noctis enjoys fishing, and he enjoys being outside. Rather than cooped up in a building or city. Gladio also is the same. The two of them used to go exploring when they were younger. The two picking up whatever caught their eye. Ignis got a foraging ingredients book when they were all young. Gladio and Noctis wore the pages out on it. Hunting down ingredients in local parks and stuff for Ignis to find. Them ending up with nothing but fist fulls of grass most of the time, but eh.
Regis, Clarus and Cor seeing their enthusiasm statted taking the boys out for monthly hikes or camping trips. Where theybwould forage, bird watch or go fishing.
5) Noctis fishes because he often feels over whelmed or over stimulated.
As someone who has gone fishing before, i can attest that there isnt anything more relaxing than just sitting by the water and watching some lines. Fishing can be a sport. But it can also be a meditative experience. I imagine that Noctis was attracted to fishing because of this. Growing up, and it seems that relaxing by the water is a good way to just let everything dirft away for a bit.
