finally polished up this piece that i had sitting around on my computer. this is a scene from my Hollow Bones and Hollow Hearts au - there’s nothing like watching fireworks from the top of a clocktower and munching on stolen cake with your best friend the rat

[id: a digital drawing of ten-year-old Emily Kaldwin leaping off the Dunwall Clocktower. it is a structure made out of dark metal beams with a large, yellow-glowing clock face marked with roman numerals, and the sky is dark and cloudy behind it. the “camera” is looking up at Emily as she jumps feet first with her arms stretched above her head and shadowy, translucent wings stretched out behind her (and Atticus Ratticus, who is just beside her head on the right). her left hand is clenched into a fist and the back of it is glowing in a trail of white, yellow, and blue light. Emily is wearing a long navy blue coat with yellow trim, and a scarf in matching colours patterned with swallows. the hood is up and the scarf is over her nose and mouth, so all that is visible of her face are her eyes, right ear, and dark fringe. she is also wearing a sash of bone charms under her coat, beige trousers, and black boots that have two brown straps around them. /end id]

She longed for Corvo to tell her that he saw her. She could imagine his words, and the old nickname from o-so-long-ago: “I see a little sparrow listening to secrets on the breeze.”

Instead the Heart had beat. Da-dum. Da-dum. Da-dum.

On the front of it there is a hatch like a small magnifying glass, and it shows cogs turning in the yellow-glowing interior. There is black barbed wire twisted around the main arteries and veins at the top of the Heart. The whole organ glows, casting light on Emily’s face from where she holds it in front of her with both hands.

Behind Emily there is a brick wall covered in dirty and peeling posters. The leftmost one is for the Golden Cat, with an illustration of a golden cat on a black background on the right and the words “The finest court in all the Isles” in golden script on the left. Below that is “SKILLED IN ALL THE SENSUAL ARTS!” in white script. Overlapping the Golden Cat poster in the bottom left corner is a rectangular horizontal advert for Pratchett Jellied Eels, though “LIED EELS” is all that is visible along the top because of Emily’s hair. Below the text, there is a diamond-shaped logo in the centre. Above Emily’s head, there is a poster that has mostly been torn away reading “THE HOUND P”. hhhhhhhhhh ive talked to u so much about this i don’t know... i’ve told you that Emily gains an animal companion named Atticus Ratticus... i’ve told you Corvo is the Heart instead of Jessamine...... OH! here’s something (maybe? idr): instead of Blink, Emily has a power called Dark Wings that gives her three wingbeats per jump
