I’ve done a couple of meta posts about my Issues With Talisa so I’m not going to rehash all of them, but a quick recap: -Talisa noticeably does not belong in the world of Westeros (a nobleborn nurse wandering around war camps unaccompanied and sassing kings?)-Talisa’s character is a disservice to characters like Brienne and Asha, who do not fit into the traditionally feminine mold and receive backlash from their patriarchal society; her character, to me, implies that characters like Brienne and Asha and even Arya just don’t ~try~ hard enough, if they were bold and beautiful enough, they could stomp that patriarchy to the ground!-Talisa exists solely as a plot device so Our Hero could have a Cool Girl, who's Not Like the Other Girls. -There is nothing wrong with Jeyne Westerling, and no, I don’t find Talisa necessarily more interesting. -That said, I don’t NEED Jeyne OR Talisa to be super interesting because the whole northern storyline is supposed to be about Catelyn and be Catelyn’s story, not Robb’s ANYWAY. -By introducing Talisa and making her and Robb have an Epic Sweeping Romance, they completely changed Robb’s motivation and the core of his character, making it about selfishness and Robb thinking about Robb rather than Robb thinking about what is the most honorable thing to do and making a stupid teenage decision based largely on grief. So there we are in a nutshell. Honestly, I have far bigger issues with HBO!Robb than I do with Talisa, but to me Talisa is just so…ill-fitting and shoehorned in.
