afaik book 2 is the first time we see a horcrux on page (not counting harry) and this is the book where they're explained

book 2 is also the first time we see a Hogwarts’ founders relic on page and this is the book where a ton more are mentioned

harry x ginny is plot important

we see young voldemort as/in a memory

(a lot of these parallels are explicitly made in the text this time)

this book also has a great ending; it’s very clear what’s coming next but the next book manages to be surprising nevertheless

Luna’s Quidditch commentary also A+

the Quidditch gets a bit monotonous after a while

if I played I think I’d like to be a Beater, having a bat sounds fun

I think I forgot to express my appreciation of the opening chapter

A+ for that, my favorite opening chapter in any HP book

well put that on the list of lines I did not understand as a kid

though you’d think Dumbledore would have picked up on how miffed Harry gets when people keep secrets from him by now

...yeah this book is really slow

the closest thing to a plot thing happening is Scrimgeour talking to Harry at the Burrow which isn’t in the movie iirc

the arbitrary teen romance is driving me up the wall even more than in the last book

so this is the book where Harry gets all obsessive over Malfoy

honestly I think this one is much slower than the fifth? the fifth book is DENSE

this one has the fascinating memory bits but the teen drama shifts from Harry to Ron and Hermione and it’s miserable
