What if your company’s data could do more than sit in spreadsheets?
That was the central theme of yesterday’s exceptional Harvard Business School Online session, which I had the honor of hosting under the leadership of our 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫, 𝐌𝐬. 𝐄𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐦. Participants from across the globe, including the UAE, India, Cameroon, and the US, joined the conversation, and a few ideas really stood out:
1️⃣ Value beats volume
Volume, Velocity, Variety, the three Vs everyone knows. The fourth V, Value, is what turns data into decisions that actually move the needle.
2️⃣ People make it real
Data alone is not enough. Centering human capital transforms numbers into meaningful action and drives real business impact.
3️⃣ Trust is mandatory
Privacy, transparency, and ethical data governance are not optional. They are the foundation of workplaces people genuinely want to be part of.
Key takeaway: Data is the new gold, but its power comes from how effectively it is mined, refined, and applied. Think big. Start small. Let value, people, and ethics guide your strategy.
