Ok final takes uhhh I think I’d like this movie a lot more if I was younger. that being said, not bad! Pretty fun at times! Elliot pages acting was fun and I really do like the way they characterize Jeff. He felt like a kind of guy who exists. He denys the whole time and even his admission that he had something to do with the dead girl but didn’t kill her himself is thrown into question because it’s the same line his buddy used.

When it comes to him choosing suicide, I kind of flip-flop about how I feel about it. Like I want to say that it doesn’t make sense and he of all people should know that while it could tank his career and relationships for a little bit charges like that often don’t ruin peoples lives the way that he might fear? I mean, they even talk about a famous sexual abuser who was getting an Emmy at the time or something I don’t know.

But on the other hand, there are definitely people who have killed themselves after being out as pedophiles or predators directly because of the reputational damage. So maybe Jeff and his buddy were more like that.

It also wasn’t as tonally dark as I was expecting? Like I said it was fun to watch parts of it reminded me more of an action movie than like horror or thriller or psychological shit or whatever. Like the scenes were bright and the dialogue was quippy and genuinely funny.

Or maybe I just think that because the thrillers and horrors that are made today are all shot in the dark and impossible to see lol.

The most unsettling parts though were the scenes before Hayley started doing her whole thang. Like the chatroom shit and the flirting at the coffee shop or w/e was very effective at making me feel uncomfortable. It definitely felt the most real. We didn’t see a lot of other people in this movie, but I got the feeling that the cashier was also uncomfortable from the brief glance we got from him. But it’s hard to say.

Also!!!! I liked the hinting that while she was doing this she had another guy lined up right after, potentially on the same day she was gonna kill Jeff (the whole “ this isn’t going to take as long as I thought let’s catch a movie soon” line) cuz it’s like. TODAY???? HOW BOOKED IS UR SCHEDULE GIRL. I’m like intensely curious about her entire life now but also know that if anything were to extrapolate it it’d probably be bad.

Unless it was like idk 300k fanfiction written by a 30 year-old. That would probably be the best shot for a creatively interesting backstory for her. But anyway not knowing her is part of the story so to be clear I don’t actually want a backstory for her

I like the honor student running bit. It highlights her age really well and is exactly what a 14 year old who thinks they’re smart would say . It’s also very funny to me idk just being like “I’m an honor student. Of course I know how to use a gun” is very amusing

Hayley your habit of monologuing and standing way too close to him has finally lead to your downfall 😔

On the other side I really do enjoy how he immediately shows what a dick he is whenever he has power. Doesn’t phone 911 when he has the chance. Once he has power & a weapon he says shit like “I’ll make it good for ya!”
