† { Light. The light was the first thing to strike Herod’s eyes, then the color - he craned his neck and stumbled back trying to see the line where the strange, impossibly tall buildings met the sky. Despite having seen many a city in his life, this one far surpassed anything he’d seen before, and it entranced him so deeply he didn’t see the figure walking behind him until it was too late. “Excuse me,” he yelped, trying and failing not to trip into the innocent bystander. When he recovered his balance, he shook his hair out of his eyes to see a young man before him, wearing a startled expression and blessedly normal clothes. “Forgive me,” Herod smiled shakily – “This place is far from comforting.”
