selective mutism babeyyy. he can deal w situations in the present, when it’s loud and he Needs to act and command and all that, but when it gets quieter and stuff, so does he, even if people r looking to him to help destroy the lingering tense feelings everyone’s got, he. can’t speak at all. it’s usually jesse who takes on that and helps give general advice. jesse tries to keep personal opinions out of this part bc he Knows he’s gonna get cynical and rex is alredy stressed as it is. they care abt each other. + anakin learns quickly to leave rex be until the day afterward, when he’s in a better way.

hmm i have many but here’s smth i don’t feel is talked abt much. the 212th and 501st stay by each other for a Good While after umbara. mostly bc there r many instances where people just. Need to check and make sure another they care for from the other battalion is still alive, steadily recovering, or at least still breathing. they’re much closer w each other than the other battalions. rex was familiar w waxer’s company, fond of him and familiar w boil, and it was rough just needing to stand by while he knew cody pulled boil away from medbay to tell her that waxer died. it took rex reaffirming this for boil to really accept it. neither rex or cody saw her outside the barracks for a while after that, not that they really were able to keep track of much. it all kinda became. a blur of fucked up shit.

the first time anakin throws his arm at rex, rex is just too tired to deal w it, doesn’t even look, thinks it’s one of his vode throwing an armor piece, and tosses his helmet back at anakin, smacking him in the face. anakin has never let him live this down and DEFINITELY uses it to get his way sometimes. “i am Not helping you set up a prank for kenobi” “c’mon it’s not like he’s getting a helmet to th-” “it was ONE time”

he cares abt the 501st! a lot! post-umbara he was esp guilty over what happened and REALLY tried to make it up to them because he just. this was one of those moments he regretted prioritizing palpafuck over everyone else, especially because the 501st is a group, not just a personal offense to obi-wan or ahsoka or anyone else, but rather like. hundreds of people because he failed to stay there w them and go through it with them. there’s a larger disconnect there for a long while because he just. doesn’t know what it was like on umbara, and despite his attempts at comfort and promises he’ll stay by them as long as he’s physically able to, it all feels empty.
obviously, anakin would’ve done... a similar job as krell did, would’ve lost a lot of people, albeit MUCH less intentional, but he likes to think he would’ve been better... at least they would’ve been allowed to comfort each other over the deaths and try to find some moments of peace between it all instead of constantly being reprimanded.
anakin... really kept pushing his apologies bc of this, after umbara was done with, his ‘what if’s had he been there, his insistence they deserved better (which was already obvious.) unfortunately for him! the fact remains he wasn’t there, and this sort of behavior only further severed his connection w the 501st, making them isolate themselves bc even tho this was proof of his ‘care’, he just. he let his guilt influence most of his actions here and, even though he did make a point to move on and be so much better (and he generally was), there’s still that lingering :| feelings y’know.

okay. i guess this isn’t entirely realistic depending on who you ask but anyway! only those closest to him really realize this, bc even if he exhibits symptoms in front of others, he’s usually got hegemol or aster (his assistant/butler) to give him an excuse Out before it gets too bad, but he’s got paranoia (why very few r personally familiar w him + why he isolates but still needs at least one person (aster, usually. hegemol if he’s caught out of his spire) by him) and primarily deals w auditory hallucinations (esp difficult to move on from when it’s triggered around tpk, bc when these r not just impressions of meanings, the clearer voices tend to pick his king’s voice. it fucking Sucks). he’s got other issues too but Yeah those r the ones that affect him the most mentally. he’s also got chronic pain! doesn’t really like leaving the spire but he’ll do it for u monomon n tpk <3 and the 'higher-caste’ too i guess

aster does the Gay Flirting w lurien, which is to say once aster stopped fussing over the fact lurien was in a “higher position” than they were n “didn’t deserve” someone so inferior, they literally go on and on abt how much lurien means to them and end it with a very sincere “i love you” only to panic moments later in lurien’s silence (he just. short-circuited.) n b like “no homo tho... ahaha unless ? jk jk jk” (they meant full homo tho... </3)

tpk indulged lurien’s feelings only to become closer to him (if lurien looked at it objectively, he would realize it was a one-sided affection. that tpk’s words were empty.) to figure him out and what he needed to keep lurien not only safe, but happy enough that he’ll be content to only ever stay in hallownest.
lurien was really close friends w monomon until he realized what she planned to do w quirrel, what she would put him through despite knowing what his fate would be. he loved her. he loves her, even in his end, even after all their arguing, what clashing values are left in their broken selves in the dream, he loves her. he wants to believe her. and he would allow himself that, if he hadn’t witnessed her disregard for his pain in this same thing she will subject quirrel to (a worse version, even, with quirrel being older and with the mask having an entire personality already imprinted into it when he takes it). it is not an entirely conscious choice to lash out at her afterward, and he knows she doesn’t deserve a reaction so flippant, but he also knows she knows him, knows he thinks is abhorrent, knows what will result from it, and yet still chose to go through with this, an offense he takes to mean she, somehow, doesn’t care abt him. irrational as it is. and, beyond that, lack of faith in their king--something which scares him. bc if his king isn’t right, isn’t a stable force, he really doesn’t know. What he’s meant to trust in.

he had a large hand in rebuilding the city. bc of the previous battle before he joined hallownest, the strength of the 'ceiling’ keeping the blue lake from completely collapsing on them was somewhat breaking (it wouldn’t break entirely, tpk had ~ensured that~), and lurien helped design a lot of the city to adapt to the more constant rain. none of the buildings, save for his spire, dared the height they once had. most of the important buildings were connected to help keep them upright in ‘worst case scenario’, being used to support one another as they were raised up like before, now with a much more stable base. it is because of this adaptation that the city still somewhat withstands as the ‘rain’ has worsened. most of the lower buildings have flatter roofs to help the rain slide off w/o affecting it so much, w spiked areas just for ~design~, while the higher ones retain their harsh shape bc that was tpk’s wish + they r the first ones to face the rain, so it’s not As Bad, but it’s still. not great. basically: the city remains in-game in its base shape, but not in the state as it once was due to the endless rain, now even harsher after tpk’s disappearance.

- realistic:
he hated going thru fog canyon. it’s why he zipped right through just to land in queen’s station and saved fog canyon for much, much later until it was an undeniable destination. it just made him very uncomfortable, not bc of some lingering dread or some sort of frustration w the nature of the place, but bc he felt... fond of it. and sure he’s fine w going thru all sorts of emotions, and this isn’t the first time he’s immediately felt appreciative of a place he’s gone through, but it’s usually because it shares familiar features. the canyon has none of that, nothing immediately recognizable even though it should be, he knows this and he doesn’t understand why it’s tugging at a different part of him, bc he knows this isn’t just based on aesthetics, it was some genuine connection n it’s disturbing.
- while it may not be realistic it is hilarious:
upon discovering ghost isn’t affected by water, quirrel just has a beach ep on the blue lake w them :] throws them across the lake only for them to float to the surface and swim back jumping like “YEAH YEAH YEAH.” also literally every single content where quirrel employs his curling up into a ball thing bc he’s a rolly poly. it’s cute.

even though he knows (and still kind of feels) there’s a positive connection between him n monomon, quirrel. the present quirrel. doesn’t truly feel much of that, especially after the full plan comes through. he spends a lot of time (too much, in his opinion) wondering who she was, putting together these broken pieces of who he remembers her to be, with the only real distinct moments being moments near the end of hallownest, with a pressure in his chest as she speaks (she sounds happy around him, he does too, but what he most strongly felt then conflicted so heavily with what was spoken). he knows he helped her create this plan, that he did choose to be part of it, clearly, regardless (or, maybe, because of) how dear she was to him. but as it is right now, he just. can’t care much, and he doesn’t want to. he wants to move on from hallownest, he wants to find a life that is his own again. even w the nostalgia, w the love he tries to feel as himself, in more than a memory, he gets sick of her. he is not who he was, not after what they did. he doesn’t care for her any longer. and he had no right feeling bitter when he watched ghost kill her, because he couldn’t care less for her. he should’ve let his past die with her right then instead of lingering on it and pretending this iteration of him was still obligated to be a part of that plan.

after order 66 i really think she followed any trail where it was possible anakin was still alive, sitll desperate to try to find him. she tried to get rex to follow her and help her, until they both finally just. kind of. broke. and accepted that anakin wasn’t coming back. that everyone from the skywalker family was dead, except for her. neither of them were in a great mood when they came to that conclusion, drained and upset and frustrated w yet another dead end that only got them in more trouble than it was worth and it was. very messy.

he would be fucking GREAT with a lightsaber, used to hand to hand combat and all that. there’ve definitely been some battles ended by cody’s hand bc obi-wan accidentally dropped his lightsaber yet again and cody had to pick up the slack. king.

nola was cloth’s lover,,, neither of them were all that eccentric, but nola loved making stuff for cloth to wear (like her lil cloak w the gold circles) bc she looked cute in them. they lived together in an area w a Lot of huge trees n while cloth was generally known and appreciated (she’s just!!! really nice n open abt stuff sometimes. even if you don’t talk to her she just gives off those real friendly n trustworthy vibes y’know?) nola was content just being in the bg.

cloth sees the false knight and is immediately like aww SOLELY bc of the “mace” bug. she tries to talk w them abt it, until she realizes they’re trying to kill her, and then immediately leaves the arena. (inspired by my brother’s run where the shortcut was already broken by the time he fought the false knight bc my sister panicked when trying the battle while he was gone)

nola was killed trying to protect a group of people. there was no feasible way she’d live. it was an impossible situation unless you were secretly a god or some shit, but nola still tried her best to take it on to save them or at least give them a chance to escape w cloth as their guide. bc of this, cloth feels she can only die if she proves her strength, so nola will have something to be proud of, to see that cloth has gone around being a kind, good person (she’s really friendly w ghost and i aaaaa :’] <3) and constantly looking for new challenges so she can feel that she lived life and, by the end, had tried and done her very best until her (untimely) end. IF cloth died to the traitor lord, (which she didn’t, she’s fine. she’s FINE and she heals and it’s all fine.) it’s some sort of parallels stuff. yes.

i have heavily adopted @/canarhys’s canon w these two, being remaining batchmates shifted around until they got to the 501st together and just. i can’t remember if this is their canon or an addition of mine, but i feel they r v close bc of that Shared Trauma but they still r their own people you know? they almost feel obligated to remain close, no matter how different they become. even when they clash more and more often, they feel like they’re “supposed to” stay close.

glances to my Very unfinished post-umbara fic where dogma, after being put away, becomes familiar w fox n they get close n deal w the whole “following orders” thing n perceptions of people in power. after further Consideration and prodding obi-wan a Lot to help anakin speak against this, dogma is released and eventually gets to return to the 501st (permission is given while the 501st is Away on a mission, so they were working further alongside fox in the guard n left an imprint of themself w him) and they get to be fambly again n they heal from umbara n dogma works to figure out who they want to be beyond what they were crafted for. I just think dogma’s neat and i Need to write this out. if only i weren’t terrified of everyone except One (1) person who writes fox BWJGMDS
