Day 48: Good ending
Ladies and Gentlemen calling to all Starscream fans, right now!
He Lives for now, really looking up at how Kirkman is going to fuck it up somehow
Thought I'd share this here! In 2018 (gulp) I painted what would be the first of many iterations of this Gob! He remains a dear favourite of mine and when Mindwork said they wanted to realise him as a 75m miniature - I was so bloody chuffed! 3d artist Juan Novelletto really did him such a justice, I am so delighted with how he turned out! Cannot wait to have him scowling at me on my desk!

Confession time:
I enjoy a good Boromir Lives AU. Kind of most especially when they're with an Aragorn/Boromir pairing (though I love Aragorn/Arwen too, I like the angst that comes with an Aramir pairing with Boromir living). And all of my opinions are based on my own readings of the material and the head-canons I've created from the reading therein.
What I don't like about the AUs is when they give everything good that Faramir does in the books to Boromir... That's not Boromir to me, even if he's on some road to redemption (and here I might argue that Boromir doesn't need redemption, so much as understanding and forgiveness because he's not the only one who fell to the Ring) because that is not who he is written to be or who I read him as, regardless of his actions surrounding everything that happens at Amon Hen. This really could be just because of my reading (and absolute love and adoration of Faramir) or even just how fanon has shaped some of my views, but Faramir is the better brother to be Steward. I think Boromir would have been more than happy to cede the office to Faramir and remain more of a military advisor (like, why not remain the Captain General especially since it seems that Aragorn continued to have many military campaigns).
But beyond that, when some AUs completely sideline Faramir so that it is Boromir who fights valiantly to defend the retreat from Osgiliath, be shot by the Southron, and almost die from the Black Breath only to be saved by Aragorn it strikes me as, dare I say, lazy writing? If that is how people see it, that's fine! But to me it almost feels like a complete copout because why not write something original for Boromir to go through/experience to make him fleshed out in parts of the story where he didn't exist. Also, in Boromir lives ideas, he would probably want more than anything to see his brother again so why do so many people make Faramir a total nonentity in these stories? I have also read a few where Faramir is made completely into the antagonist of Boromir's story; Faramir is an obstacle to Boromir, and sometimes Aragorn, and this is so completely out of character for everyone that it's annoying.
I know that fanfiction doesn't owe me anything; authors write for themselves and what they see/view and for their ideas. And I say go for it, but maybe we could also tag these AUs as out of character too? Just because it's sad to start a well written Boromir lives AU and then have it just be a rewrite of the movie/books with Boromir taking Faramir's part entirely.
Honestly this is just me yapping into the void because the void is the one that listens and doesn't argue back, lol
its the first day of summer! (at least, up in the northern hemisphere LOL) so what's a better time than now to ask -- what are your blorbos up to when the sun is out and the weather gets warm again? :0!
send help, apparently it's going to be 37°C next week I'm not built for these temperatures T-T
(wistfully remembering years ago when 30°C was the hottest day of the year here and even that was a noteworthy high)
Let's see, who's faring better than me rn lol
You can find Indesa in either one of two modes: cat nap or Hiking Brain Activated. Sprawled out somewhere, soaking up the sunshine, or disappearing into the Odessen wilds on a week long hike. The hike will no doubt include stops to sun herself on some rocks, or a nice grassy knoll, of course. Get the best of both worlds in there.
Adus is at a beach side bar, sunnies on and iced drink in hand. Not thinking too hard about the ocean Right There, nope. Not at all. She can dip her feet in, other people are doing it, that's Acceptable. (But there is a tug in her gut telling her to go deeper in, at which point she quickly makes her way back to the bar and orders another drink. )
Zod is simple: sun's out, guns out. (but her guns were already out, I hear you cry. Zod is not listening. the Guns are Out. 😌 ...perhaps a crop top to get the tummy out too...)
The Aircon on Corwen's ship is set to max, it's akin to walking into a Hoth microcosm. Corwen has also invested in additional electric fans to point directly at him. He's supplementing the fuel costs from his own salary to avoid an angry letter from the Jedi's accountants. (You'll have to pry his hot caf out of his cold cold hands though.)
