Tamino
So, since I'm up at 3 fucking o clock AM because my child has decided that the house she's lived most of her little life in thus far is haunted, I want to share with you a story from our old house- yet another creaky Victorian.
It's the middle of the night. My bedroom door is closed because we still had the delusion that we would keep cats out at bedtime (we only had one, and had only had him a few months). I hear "mom! Mooom!" from outside the door. I have a preschooler, so this is not too strange.
Wearily, I stand, and stagger my way to my one and only child's bedroom, and open the door.
She's sound asleep, all tucked into her little bed.
From riiight behind me I hear "Mom. Moooom."
My heart hammering, I slowly turn to look behind me.
And there's this asshole, sitting right behind me, looking up at me in the dark of the staircase landing.
"Mooom".
The thing that kills me about this is when we got him, this was never a noise he made. He was loud from day 1, that's why he got named after an opera character, but it was rrrraour or big, bellowing WOOAAAAAAAHWW he likes to do at windows to tell any other creatures to step off, this is his property.
But he had been watching our daughter for 3 months, and every time she said "mom" she got attention. We would come to find her and give her attention, even.
And he was lonesome at night, and figured out how to meow to sound juuuust like a 4 year old girl calling for her mom.
When I say he has 1 braincell and he uses it to cause trouble this is a good example.
Anyways, kiddo woke up tonight wondering who the fuck else was calling for their mom in her house, and decided it was a ghost.
Three guesses who was outside her bedroom doorway, even though he can now get into my wife's and my bedroom and we also have two other cats.
Needy little fucker. He's lucky he's so damn cute.
