#head shrinking

Jul 14, 2017: Finally! Finally found another bread tab! 😆 Listen, most of the bread we buy has wire twist ties. Anyway, he's fixed! Bobble head no more! I had to modify the procedure a bit because his head is shrunken and hard. @dolldirt has a tutorial on tumblr on how to fix modded heads/necks with bread tabs. 😉 Thanks to everyone's suggestions but I felt this was the best solution. 😊

------ (a friend expressed interest in a Goblin King from Labyrinth doll, and this was the beginning of that. Haven't touched the doll since and I'm pretty sure friend is no longer interested in that either)

To other people who customize dolls: Did you ever try head shrinking an LOL OMG doll?? Because i’m working on one and like... the head will not shrink. Second soak in pure 100% acetone and that thing baaaarely increases in size so obviously when it dries out there isn’t much shrinking happening. I never had problems with monster high dolls or anything before, any ideas??

Finally gave headshrinking a shot! Truly, this is a glorious, arcane method that through some manner of witchcraft has achieved a well-proportioned head.

does anyone have experience with shrinking a skelita head?

i’m confident that i can pull off the shrinking itself haha but i’m worried the sculpt might get distorted or something..?

Head shrinking the cloned My Scene Barbie head from the Frankie Stein fakie doll I got for X-Mas was a success.

Unfortunately, I have once again forgotten to take measurement photos to compare.

The vinyl is significantly harder and I have no fear of it tearing or ripping by just touching it anymore.

I'm hoping I can sand some of those imperfections down now that it's harder and compressed. I would also have to find a body for her.

But that can wait. I can always soften her head again in hot water to smoosh onto a new neck peg.

Going to attempt to shrink her head because I don't know what else to do with her if I'm honest.

So stained. And lumpy. Also, very very thin vinyl.

I'm reusing some old diluted acetone with a splash of fresh acetone.

I guess we'll see what happens tomorrow?

Hairdorables Hairmazing clothes kinda sorta fit MH. The skirt is so low because I sewed a saddle/crotch ribbon to prevent it from riding up on the original doll.

Aaand I may have carved out too much in the shrunken neck hole and now it's too big and wobbly. Hopefully, it'll continue to shrink some more? And be better?

Either way, she's been thrown into the WIP bin under the bed for being a naughty project.

I am very annoyed by how the lower legs on this Spectra body sway to the side like that. They also feel very flimsy. Not the limb itself, more like the peg that's inserted to the knee cavity. I'm so afraid of them just breaking off!

And since I forgot to measure this smiling Apple White head before soaking in acetone, I now have no idea if it is shrinking or not. Good job, me. I don't have any other smiling EAH heads to compare either.

As much as I didn't like them for the EAH dolls, I do like the sculpt for its customizing potential. At least, I think they have potential. We'll see if I still feel like that after this custom. I wonder if anyone is selling off just the heads ...
