Little Man and the Crazy Uncles
About three months had passed since Harmony Guinevere was born. It was Springtime, and the weather was beautiful out. So beautiful, that Ethan had decided he and Robbie were well-overdue for some much-needed Father-Son time, without the watchful eye of his mother governing everything they did. Ethan respected Marisol’s parenting, but he also wanted their son to be exposed to certain things that Marisol was otherwise keeping from him. She was babying him, and he was six years old, it was time for him to tag along on a guys’ day out.
They started out early in the morning, going fishing out on a nearby lake, just Ethan and Robbie. Ethan taught him how to put the worm on the hook without hurting himself and what to watch for to know that a fish was on the line. They ended up catching a couple of small sunfish, and Robbie was so excited, Ethan couldn’t help but take a couple of pictures and send them to his mother.
Next, they met up with Aaron, Alan, Tino, and Phil for lunch at a bar & grill in the area, the canoe they had been sitting in earlier in the day was now tied down securely on the top of the Escalade. Ethan really appreciated how welcoming the band guys had been to Robbie and how they were just as playful with him as Ethan. They kept him included and really made sure they didn’t talk about anything too inappropriate.
There were a couple of times where Alan would nod over at a bartender or waitress and ask, “Robbie, isn’t she pretty?” And Robbie, being his innocent little self, would shrug. Ethan gave Alan a dirty look, one that said, “Don’t push it,” in the most understandable sense.
They spent the rest of the day walking around an amusement park that was in the area, Robbie enthusiastically licking at an ice cream cone. Finally, at about 4 in the afternoon, they decided to all part ways, but Ethan wasn’t done having fun with his son.
He blasted music the whole way home, and his Spotify has just happened to land on Bubba Sparx and the Ying Yang Twins’ Ms. New Booty. He cranked it, much to Robbie’s delight and uncontrollable laughter as they pulled into their driveway, the lowering sun in the sky being cause enough to wear his sunglasses.
