Johan hates flying. HATES it. But when you’re an internationally ranked duelist, it comes with the territory, and so he does more than his fair share of gritting his teeth and getting “randomly selected” by security.
He’s doing one of those all-fluff-thirty-seconds-of-substance talk show interviews to promote a new dueling circuit right around Valentine’s Day, and so of course the host is asking everyone about the most romantic things their partner does for them, etc. Johan, in a moment of “who lets this boy speak other languages he can only get himself into trouble in,” gleefully announces “he just leaves me alone!” while everyone stares at him assuming a breakup is imminent. Yubel intervenes before the new circuit can be overshadowed by ANDERSON ANNOUNCES SPLIT FROM BOYFRIEND to be sure Johan explains that what he means is that flying gives him migraines, and Judai is a very chatty person by nature, but when Johan arrives home after a long flight Judai just goes down this checklist–ibuprofen, sinus medication, hot tea, kiss on the cheek–and then loads Johan’s stuff in the washer while Johan takes a nap to let the headache pass.
Absolutely nobody understands why Johan would call anything about this “romantic.” He ends up having to explain via Twitter that the most romantic thing is acknowledging your partner’s needs, not just shoehorning in the things Hollywood thinks you should do. Judai reads his tweets and, with a shit-eating grin, suggests that what he really needs is a few booster packs. Johan, feeling much better after yet another of those brief after-plane naps, swats him on the leg and suggests what he really needs is something else that makes Yubel cover their eyes dramatically and catch the string on the blinds, because neither of the others ever remembers.
While these Pokémon are commonly perceived as male in many cultures, they can be female as well: Tyrogue, Hitmonlee, Hitmonchan, Hitmontop, Gallade, Throh, Sawk, Rufflet, Braviary.
The sport of Pokémon battles actually started shortly after domesticated Pokémon started to become commonplace. People would allow their Pokémon to roughhouse together as a way of getting them exercise. However, these little battles would sometimes lead to Pokémon being seriously injured. That's why the organized sport was eventually created. Pokémon can still battle like they want to, but humans are there to monitor it to make sure no one's precious Pokémon partners get seriously injured.
It’s normal for him now. Waking up startled, terrified, from a dream. A nightmare. Every now and again, his past troubles him. Every other night, he wakes up, panting and sweating, unable to move, unable to breath for a moment. And then he can’t go back to sleep again, he just can’t.
A part of him is scared as to what he might see in those dreams, the uneasiness doesn’t let him sleep. He doesn’t want to experience it again, that fear. That horror of being in that vicious place. The fear in heart as to what punishment he might have to go through if he doesn’t succeed.
His memories of being in the Balkov Abbey are blurry, clouded. He doesn’t remember anything clearly, just a blurred mess. They’ve been suppressed in an attempt to forget everything that had happened on that day. That day when he was consumed by his desire. The desire to gain ultimate power. The desire to be able to control the most powerful bitbeast there was.
His attempts to block out the torture of the abbey were of no use. The torture that they had to go through if they lost. Losing was never an option. He was taught this lesson from the very first day he was sent to the abbey. The day his life took a huge turn.
The harsh training, which was supposed to transform innocent children into a beyblading machine. It was like a punishment, for loving a sport so much. They just wanted to get better at their favourite sport. They never knew there lives would turn out to be like this, being slaves to a filthy man who wanted to use those innocent children for his ‘world domination’ plans.
But it was harder for him. Why ? Because the person who forced him into this hell was his own flesh and blood, his own grandfather. He had the constant burden of “being the best”, put onto his shoulders on such a tender age. He had to do it for 'family honor'. Because whenever he failed to prove that he was the best - that he never lost - he was given severe punishment. Being dragged away from everyone else despite the protests.. into a dark, cold room.. waiting for the punishment that was to come. It terrified him when he looked into those eyes, those eyes of pure evil, that showed a glimpse of what was to come his way. Thinking about it still freaks him out. He doesn't remember what it was like, what he saw in those eyes, but he remembers the fear that he felt when looking into those eyes. Everyone in the abbey got punished for ‘not being good enough’. His punishment, however, was different. It had to be. He was potentially the most powerful blader in the abbey, he was the grandson of Voltaire Hiwatari, the owner of the BioVolt corporation, the evil mastermind behind everything that went on in the abbey.
The feeling of being abused, was something he just wanted to block out of his mind, but it never seemed to work. Being abused mentally, physically, emotionally. He was like any other child.. happy, loving. He used to laugh and play around too. But he was forced to become cold, ruthless, emotionless, heartless, a robot. And he bared everything, just because he still had the hope that he could escape it someday.
And he did. He had friends now, his true family. Who had always accepted him with welcoming arms, despite his constant attempts to push them away, despite all the mistakes he had made, they were home. He was peaceful, to a certain extent. No matter how much he wants it to just vanish, his past would always be a part of him. Never leaving him alone, always haunting his dreams. A constant reminder of what hell he’s went through, of why he is so strong, of why he should never give up on anything.. no matter how thin the chances are. It scares him, yes. But he doesn’t run away from it. He’s accepted it as a part of himself, a deep secret.. that only those people know who he lets them into his heart, his life. They don’t know every detail about his past, he’s not ready to tell them, maybe he never will. It still haunts his dreams, makes him sleepless. And everytime it does show up in his mind, it leaves him as horrified as ever before. _________________________________________________________
Note: I’m sorry this is so crappy. Someone requested me to do my thoughts on Kai’s past and how they’ve affected him. This is kinda just a part of the ‘after affects’ of the abbey. And yeah, i know I'm a very slow poster, I apologize for that.
