a mysterious figure wearing the signature fox mask was spotted on the rooftop of a defunct militech plant. the authorities were called but were unable to apprehend the individual who got away in a stolen vehicle. our viewers from chicago might find all of this familiar -- it’s all but confirmed that the trespasser is a vigilante hailing from that city.
“chicago is breeding ground for freaks like him,” comments janus milecki, a stormtech executive and a former chicago resident. “the reclamation process is slow, the law acts even slower. some take matters into their own hands.”
the fox became a well-known figure to the citizens of chicago after he leaked a video recording of a murder committed by the former mayor. he is also credited with dismantling a major human trafficking organization in the heart of chicago. he has done so in a rather decisive fashion -- by killing all of those involved. his exploits make him a polarizing figure in the city-- some applaud his hands-on approach, some find him a little too trigger-happy.
milecki echoes the sentiment: “you can never tell what he’s up to. one day he shoots up a gang hideout, next day he demolishes company dataforts.” stormtech, the largest and only mega-corporation in chicago, has observed a number of serious data breaches last year. the culprit was never caught but it is suspected that is the fox who is behind them all.
it’s impossible to guess why exactly this colorful vigilante made his way to our city but we’ll be sure to update you on all future sightings. one thing for certain -- he's definitely going to fit right in. this has been a special news report from N54 news. stay safe, night citizens.
NIGHTCITY.VER // cyberpunk 2077 verse
VERSE NOTES:
aiden is a vigilante netrunner from chicago. he’s a well-known figure there, not necessarily outside of it. he’s a total newcomer to night city and has no history here. no ties, no connections.
he’s got a specific mission in mind and can be found snooping around various illicit tech-manufacturing places. he can be also involved in usual vigilante shenanigans.
in terms of cyberware, aiden doesn’t have a lot of it. his most expensive piece is top of the line cyberdeck useful for his hacking escapades. he’s a decent netrunner although he’s much better at real-world hacking. he also has a sandevistan (YES I KNOW ITS EITHER CYBERDECK OR SANDEVISTAN IN THE GAME BUT THIS IS HIS WD1 ABILITY, BEAR WITH ME), decent optics, a voice modifier and a couple of hormone implants.
he also has a sub-dermal immune system booster but that’s mandatory for all chicago residents given that the city was almost wiped out by a bunch of plagues (which is why it had to be reclaimed in the first place)
the fox mask is cyberware too, it’s a light-construct projected by two nodes implanted into the skin behind his ears. it’s activated with his fingerprints and it serves as a signal scrambler to any recording cameras. aiden has a love-hate relationship with the mask and youre welcome to make fun of it
his weapon of choice is a reinforced baton and a sidearm. sometimes he busts out a sniper rifle. in night city, he moves around in stolen vehicles which he later dumps.
aiden is a little abrasive and distrustful of ‘idealistic’ causes but he definitely cares about people who cannot protect themselves from gangs and corporations. he doesnt believe in changing the world but he believes in changing the streets and making them safer. violently, if he has to.
♥ : Name one thing about the way their emotions work that they despise.
Emotions and Ilhoon should not even be mentioned in the same sentence, at least that’s what he thinks. He thinks he’s confusing, that everything he feels is confusing and therefore everything is too much mainly because he always feels too much. And there is where the problem lies.
He’s soft and shows it (to the right people) but then he wears a shell to protect him on a daily basis, a safe place to recoil to when he feels threatened, as if he’s the human equivalent of a turtle. He hates the fact that he feels too much, all at once sometimes, leaving him overwhelmed and unknowing of what to do since he associates deep feelings with (mostly) bad memories. Therefore, he can’t be positive when something incredible happens because he’s always waiting for the reverse of the coin, because according to him when something is too good, it never lasts. Independently of how he feels about things, he can’t help being genuine and getting attached, liking people (and sometimes trusting too much) even though he knows he’s in for disappointment in the long run. He hates the way he feels, so intensely all the time, hence why when he boasts about something, he’s never really being truly cocky. He is, in fact, fishing for compliments, feeding off of people’s love because he can’t seem to love himself.
☆ : Would they ever wish upon a falling star? If so, what would they wish?
“Money, love, fashion, fame and all that’s in between” He says, but probably something like happiness, peace of mind, endless supplies of cookies and ice cream… you know, the really important stuff.
☾ : On a sleepless night, what would they be found doing?
Ilhoon rarely has sleepless nights. Even when his life is upside down, he can still sleep, he never loses sleep over anything, it’s almost scary. He does have many sleepless nights that he plans and decides on though, mainly because he has no idea of what it means to go to bed at a decent time. Going to bed before 3AM is not something that happens often since he’s like a kid that can’t get away from the TV so it’s normal to have him living that couch potato life, wasting hours and hours watching dramas, animal documentaries and the food network. (he is a weirdo please someone save him)
☛ : What is their typical response to being given orders?
Do the exact opposite of what he’s being ordered to do. No, really, do not give him orders, do not tell Jung Ilhoon what to do or you will literally see little red horns and a tail coming out, he will turn into a little devil, he will not abide unless he actually wants to. In fact, he may even want to do something but if he’s told to do it in a forceful way, he will give that up so fast just because it was an order (and therefore it’s no longer something he decided voluntarily on). He grew up with a very strict education, where rules were everything he ever heard and there were no requests but orders instead to which he couldn’t disobey. His father being a former military officer didn’t help (him being a scumbag didn’t either) and his one year at the military school was hell on earth for him (in fact, his first act of rebellion was to be expelled from that school - he’s still proud of that). So yeah, orders are a no no. (unless it’s in a totally different and private context, to which he’s all up for yes all the way but let’s not go there, ahem)
✉ : Do they tend to rely on words or actions more?
Ilhoon talks a lot. Actually, “a lot” doesn’t even begin to cover it, the boy is a chatterbox and there is literally always something to say about everything. There’s always his idea that there needs to be constant ‘excitement’ and quiet moments can’t really be exciting so....
When he actually gets serious about something to the point that his interest is solely focused on it, he won’t know what to say (which is actually shocking and if you render him speechless, congratulations, you definitely win at life and have his undivided attention. not an easy feat to accomplish). Acts are impulses and words are planned and articulated. He likes the safety of words (that can delay actions since those are usually bound to decisions and he is a terrible decision-maker), but he is also unpredictable and impulsive so it’s probably 60/40, actions/words.
☤ : Is there anything about their health they are continuously on edge about? Something they disregard?
Nothing at all. In fact, he simply lives his life and tries to avoid even having to go to a hospital -- since the last time he went to one was not for a good reason at all. He does what most of the population does when they get sick: he self-medicates, he looks for symptoms on the internet, he drinks a cup of tea (because tea heals everything, right?), he moves on and hopes not to die. “I’m probably dying but I don’t want to know” -- kind of a drama king right here.
It probably helps that his blood is literally filled with healing properties and therefore, he’s probably the healthiest person ever without even meaning to be.
