HC 19 what
This is the first instance of "Shark Energy" Fundament in the comic. It's a long standing sight gag in Biee's Headcrew stories that Fundament gets shark teeth when she's angry or stern. I started floating the idea of hinting that Fundament has shark powers, and Biee thought it was cute. My first "innovation" was giving her dark, spooky, great-white shark eyes whem she gets mad to go with her teef. Occassionally, you might see other sharky special effects, if you stick with the comic, wait and see! Actually, that's what gave me the idea to give her dark, glossy eyes in general, so that worked out!
Also, first hint that Brain and Anxiety get up to kinky boots together.
HC 18 Choco
I'm pretty proud of this one! I came up with it all by myself and everything and Biee liked it! A lot of the low-to-no dialogue and sight gag based comic bits are from my silly mind! :3
Oh, and yes, "bip" is the sound souls makes when they jump around! Of course! <3
HC 15 Plap
Brain likes Jae's butt! Also, yes, that portrait on the black-ink milk carton is Uncle Fester. I'm honestly unreasonably pleased by every silly little sight-gag flourish I put into these comics. Spooky-Os, hee hee!
H 17 Soul-fe Care
This marks the first appearance of a character so vital to the comic (and so adorable) that it's possible to overlook the stealthy "Chicken Soup for the Soul" joke Biee slipped in there. Sneaky Biee!
The design of the Soul is based on hitodama (those ghostly orbs from Japanese lore/legend, but with an adorable little face. I used so many layers to create her features and glow effect and composite her in with Jae and the 'Thulhu plushie. The plushie is based on one Biee has, and will be showing up in the future too.
Keep an eye on Soul, she's going places!
HC 1 Title
This was the first installment of the Headcrew, but not the first one I ever drew. There are a bunch of test comics I shared with Bieeanshee. I'll share them all eventually, even though the chronology of the comic never reached them.
This comic displays each of the central characters in the comic, which is good for an intro!
Funny story, this comic is based on a text ministory Bieeanshee wrote about the Crew visiting Toronto. We refitted it for the internet instead, because it was just too perfect. Also, I'm pretty proud of the fancy outfit I gave our "supervillain."
HC 11 Panic Cycle
That is probably the worst loveseat* I've ever drawn. I'm pretty proud of the motorcycle & sidecar though, and the helmet with room for Anxiety's mohawk is pretty cool too. I actually drew panel 2 live on stream on my Twitch Channel. Also, Fundament is back!
* Biee actually called it "the loatheseat" in all of her scripts.
HC 10 Damp
I like this comic. It was very straightforward and had a kind of quiet-moment animation feel to it. The fun part of storyboarding it is that it only had one quick exchange and we managed to get 4 panels out of it.
I improvised the sign on the side of the hamper and when I showed it to Biee, she said "Fundament put that sign there."
