* The sound of a blade swishing through the air followed the sound of it hitting living flesh. A loud scream of pain sounded, followed by Bram’s voice. This time shaking, sobbing.
The pride of his life erased, revealing the scared little boy that haunted the corners of his mind.*
" Ichabod….please….he’s hurting me….he won’t stop…he NEVER STOPS!"
* A low chuckle sounded. Closer, and growing stronger as the fog swirled.*
" Abandon him again Feathered Crane. You watched his blood spilling. You watched his life fade away.
Leave him with me. You wanted him in Hell. What better Hell there is….then of one Death itself rules.”
It was an abysmally foolish thing to do--even as he stepped instinctively forward into the nightmare world he knew it--but he had no more power to resist the agonized voice of his old friend, and the guilt in his own heart, than he had been able to resist doing everything in his power to release his wife from Purgatory. He supposed that's where he now was--stupid, stupid, stupid. He strode forward into the darkness, toward the sound of the voice, telling himself that at least it wasn't so bitterly cold here.
