Call me weak for curly haired nice guys who know what to do in the kitchen (because that’s exactly what I am) but I always shipped headlyn. That never changed, not when I began indulging in keadlyn and eadrik and even neeadlyn (Eadlyn x Neena). A part of me will always want Henri to get the happy ending he deserves and that happy ending includes the woman he’d, without a doubt, give his life for and the man he trusted for months to interpret him and tell others how he sees the world. In fact, he loved them both so much that he’s rather they have each other than he have either one of them. He knew if they truly loved each other then it was worth the sacrifice of him (WHY DOES NO ONE TALK ABOUT THE FACT THAT HENRI TOLD ERIK TO MARRY EADLYN WHILE SHE WAS MAKING HER CHOICE LIKE???? HE LOVED HER SO OBVIOUSLY AND HE CARED ABOUT ERIK WITH ALL HIS HEART TOO).So yeah, I think Henri actually decides to stay after the Selection. He goes back home and brings Annika presents and of course Eadlyn allows them to come over whenever they please. Eadlyn even considered banishing him from the palace at one point but, unlike Kile, Henri seemed to have already found everything he wanted there. He still had a translator—a different one—and words with more than four syllables are still challenging but he’s managed to become just another one of the palace dwellers. He plays with the younger princes, card games and things like that, and Josie likes to vent to him because he can’t understand most of what she’s saying. He realizes she just likes it when people listen to her since she’s hardly ever gotten that kind of attention When he starts to actually get it she becomes like a little sister to him. The old king and queen find him equally charming and adorable and he’s even found an ally in Princess Camille, who had to learn Finnish at a young age.And over time his relationship with Eadlyn and Erik changes. As he gets better at English Eadlyn begins to see that he’s more than just a cute baker. He’s smart and funny and always knows how to turn a dark situation positive. Henri’s still her friend but he eventually becomes so much more than that and Eadlyn begins to feel like she’s cheating on Erik until she realizes her love for him hasn’t subsided. Her love for them is equally as strong, but she loves them in different ways.Erik’s feelings for Henri are much slower. He didn’t think he would get married until he was at least in his 30s so falling in love twice, with another guy nonetheless, was never an option to him. In reality he’s loved Henri from the beginning, he just didn’t know it. Erik was always so shy so he always assumed the feelings for Henri were the same one’s you were supposed to have for a close friend. He didn’t think anything of the fact that whenever Henri was touching him or resting a hand on his knee, his nerves about the Selection didn’t seem to matter as much. All Erik knew was that with Henri he felt safe but then when he meets Eadlyn he starts to get the same kind of feelings.After about a year through their marriage Eadlyn actually approaches Erik about it. She wants him to know because she’s tired of lying about her feelings for people and she wants their baby to live an honest life, the kind Aunt Brice never got. She knows both she and Erik are mature enough to work this out…but then Erik starts crying. He tells her felt the same and Eadlyn realizes that if it were up to him he probably would never have told her, obviously dude to some of his own personal issues with his sexuality. They spend the night in bed cuddling and don’t talk about it till the next day.Meanwhile, Henri’s kinda upset. The people he loves have been distant and awkward around him lately and even though his English has gotten much better he isn’t sure he has the courage to ask why they’re pulling away from him. When Eadlyn tells him she and Erik need to talk to him Henri’s a hundred percent sure that they’re kicking him out.But then halfway through his anxious babbling (in Finnish, which Eadlyn has gotten much better at) Eadlyn leans forward and kisses him. There are still traces of that girl from the kitchen at nights but there’s also a woman she became taking control. No matter who Eadlyn becomes Henri knows he’ll love her. Then she pulls away and he practically has a panic attack because he really doesn’t want Erik, who’s sitting right next to them, to hate him. And Erik’s kiss is something entirely new. By the time they pull away Eadlyn is laughing to herself and Henri understands that they want him to be a part of their relationship. Henri agrees almost immediately.Long story short, they become the worst kept secret at the palace (and only the palace) and Kerttu and Shiloh think of both Henri and Erik as their dads.
