Highlights from Greece so far for me has been visiting the Arcturos Wolf and Bear sanctuary (seperate locations). This organisation is doing great stuff for the preservation of beers and wolves as well as the Greek Shepherd dog which came very close to extinction. I had no idea that there were wild wolves and bears in Greece as well as throughout the Balkans, and at first I was rather nervous about this, however after receiving a short education on these animals I appreciate rather then fear them. Both wolves and bears play a huge part in cleaning the forests which contributes to the overall ecosystem there. We were also given some tips on what to do if we cross paths with them (which we were assured was highly unlikely). On another note the cherry season is in full swing abs I may have found some branching overhanging the road and I may have stocked up on some of these yummy gems of nature. Loving our time here and can't wait fir the next 9-10 days of cycling we have left (although the 2.5hr hill climb to the bear sanctuary in Nymfaio was a bit tough as well as the constant headwind today). Oh, and the food is great here however we've mainly been living on gyro aka yeeros as it's cheap & delicious - Efharistw poly Greece 🇬🇷 #tourdeeurope2017 #longdistancecycling #bikelife #greece #arcturos #neverendinghillclimbs #headwindssuck #gyroisthebest
