       shikamaru didn’t know what he was doing in front of sakura’s door.  he felt sorry, perhaps ?  that’s what he would choose to believe.  he felt sorry for sakura because, when their group of friends agreed to meet for a bbq night, ino and the others forgot to tell young chunin.  whether that was on purpose or an accident, shikamaru didn’t know.  and he didn’t dare to say a word either.  however, when they were all sitting around the table, shikamaru couldn’t help but notice sakura’s abscence.  it was so strange how no one else seemed to notice . . .  her presence was usually noticeable enough.  it wasn’t the same without her . . .

       and here he was, knocking at her door, without any words in mind to answer her questions, because who wouldn’t have questions in such a curious situation ?

“Ne Sakura,” he says brushing his shoulder against hers, “ I think this is the first break I’ve had since the war.” 

There hasn’t been a moment of rest for him since he came back. Being in the hospital didn’t count because he had to focus on healing. Getting better fast so he could help out. From then it’s been a whirlwind of meetings, assignments, and more meetings.

Everyone is working to get back on their feet. Pull the remaining pieces of themselves and try find a future in the aftermath of the war. He’s barely had time to see his friends. With everyone working toward their goals. Naruto bites his lip. Goals they’ve dreamed about are on the tips of their fingers.

“What about you?” Naruto doesn’t glance in her direction upon feeling her rest against him. Her answer is in the simple motion. Though it feels more than simple agreement. It’s a gesture of understanding, she gets it. This weight of the future that is being saddled on their shoulders. 

“We better soak it up,” he muses,” who knows when we’ll get another chance like this.” His hand runs along the grass beneath them, then plucks a dango stick off her plate to take a bite.

“You were done right?” He asks mouth full of the sticky treat.

can i just for a hot second cry at you about code lyoko and it's tempting me to add a muse onto my multi. it's mostly live action /but things can change/

Lemme just cry back at you about code lyoko because that show is my shit and I loved it for so so long and it taught me so much?? aksdjfhjs ahh !! Can I add to that temptation by saying, go for it pls ??!!!?? Which muse would you add? I’m highly curious now.

A second is spent in shock by her sensei's sudden show of affection towards her. Her cheek blushes but it's smoothed over with Sakura's sudden cool disposition. "knew i could do it. just needed some practice. it will take Naruto even longer to get even just a tiny bit closer to mastering jutsu like this."

"You're confident. That's good," sensei delights. He hadn't missed her glowing blush, and for all her bombast, he confesses: this success isn't even remotely surprising. Still... "Then you shouldn't have any problems steering that enthusiasm into a harder jutsu." The damn sadist offers another fond ruffle. "Last one landed in the hospital for exhaustion. But since you're not Naruto, you'll be fine, right?"
