Well, personally, I spent 2 years in massage school and 2 years in graduate school attempting to distill just a few of the countless nuggets of knowledge + wisdom he’s managed to research and serve in a 13-part mini-series called “Rewired”. He’s def in my top 5 fav d00ds right now.
Here are my notes from Episode 1: Intro to the Brain
We are not doomed by our genes or past.
We are creators of our own destinies.
When you change, everything changes around you.
In this modern age, it’s not enough to “know” we need to know as in embody knowledge (internalize and become wise)<3
To go from knowing to wisdom: mind → body → soul
[[Learn with your mind → do with your body (experience, commit to muscle memory) → embodied wisdom]]
Coherence - rhythm, order, synchronizations
[[when the brain unifies neurons resonating / osalting between both hemispheres; syncing left and right creates a sense of ‘wholeness’ and mental clarity; when the brain and heart are coherent, one trusts themselves, moves from a place of groundedness]]
In this country there is a stress state of 70%; that is the majority of the population is living in survival mode.
When we are in a state of perceiving danger (arousal, danger), it turns on the primitive brain, and the brain fires out of order “incoherently”; imagine the brain as rooms in a house divided against itself - they no longer synchronized; instead it puts people in a state of hyper-vigilance -attempting to control & predict outcomes.
*research demonstrates that when we focus on NOTHING or a single point (in meditation)- we allow ourselves (heart + mind) an opportunity to become cohesive*
In addition, living in fight, flight, run, or hide results in the heart being activated & to race in times when it doesn’t need to; this leads to incoherent functioning; it can result in one beginning to lose trust in themselves; this heart + brain incoherence is the very process of moving into dis(ease) or imbalance.
Teaching heart & brain coherence can make significant changes in ones life.
There is more awareness or consciousness available through operating at a higher state of being which allows for making life-changing decisions, thinking beyond current conditions, making significant changes, and getting beyond the personal memory of ‘yourself’ and past narratives.
Personality change leads to external and internal change – observe those states of who you ‘are’ and imagine yourself as new (get beyond your ‘identity’).
If you live in the familiar and continue thinking within that emotion, u are thinking in the past.
The solution is getting PAST yourself and the emotion.
This allows you to see NEW possibilities out outcomes.
Getting past your ‘normal’ analytical process can produce significant results.
