It is Done
Cigarette smoke dissipating shadows hiding half her face. Blood pooling beneath her heels, “How many?”
“He’s the last.”
Slowly she sinks back into the shadows.

The Waystation
Smoke rises from the stone chimney
door creaking open, wrapped in a thick red scarf.
She steps onto the snow filled fields
crackling burning wood behind her.
To the north east, a dew dance across a leaf
bending it with its weight and hanging at the very tip,
slowly its weight bends the leaf to the surface
ripples outwards across the reflective surface.
I’m a wanderer with wear on my clothes
stitches over them and my backpack,
scars and memories etched in body and mind.
A stop is but a transit enroute,
a way station minimalist in construction.
Tracks in water, covered in sand, or afloat in the air.
A deer by the lake, ripples outworth from her mouth,
birds atop branches parallel with the water.
Up the stream bears relax upon the shallows waiting.
She walks towards the water
her clothes loose and baggy
carrying a basket with ease.
I’ve dream of fantastical places
seen a world beautiful beyond imagination
a world no brush can capture.
Wood slowly multiply by the cabin wall
an axe planted on a stump nearby,
an easterly wind blows across the land.
Cool and wet, sunlight breaching the tree line.
Fog dissipating and falling back into the woods,
small pearls shining across the grass.
A cry bellow from the cabin
Frost armour the leaf sides
like thorns on a rose
touching the lakes icy surface, fused.
Not a thing stirs
door creaks open slowly,
a child wrapped in a thick red scarf
weighting heavily on her shoulders.
From the shadows the lady emerged
fresh and filled with vigour,
she smiles at the child
as she plunged into the snow.
The train approaches,
the snow-covered easterly track clears as it rushes into the station,
the sand-covered westerly tracks remain still as the tracks remain barely visible.
I held her hand,
as the train stops before us.
My backpack stitched and weathered, hers’ new and freshly made,
my scarf still around her tiny shoulders.
The doors open
we step forward.
The train leaves the tiny waystation and its two tracks.
Observe
Fantasy grows ever duller
with age.
We grow ever cynical and compliant
with experience.
Search and fail for that moment
with eagerness.
Through the eyes of a child,
all is simpler.
A world simple made complicated,
for what?
Awake from that fog of denial.
Emerge from the smoke and dusts.
Emerge and just observe.
By the street or atop a great mountain.
Just observe.
No judgment, no sound but the sound of the world.
Just observe in silence.
As everything turns,
a moment might be glimpsed,
a moment might appear,
a moment of pure fantasy,
a moment of miracles.
It is not the heart that longs for another. It is the soul, for a heart will stop and rot away, a soul will linger. Staring at her under the lantern lit walkway. Then at our friends, standin…

For Them
Remember the days, remember them,
remember the days when we were without worry.
The days when we live in blissful ignorance,
days with no strings attached.
Now, every twist and turn a wall we face,
where laws of both said and unsaid assaults us,
where logic have become twisted and abstract.
I’m here, sitting with you, joking eating laughing crying, sharing,
not to go against some higher power or someone behind a majestic desk.
No, I’m here for the young ones.
For the children, for the future yet to come,
we’re fucked there’s no denying.
Our generation, perhaps the most influential,
here the balance is tipping,
a crossroads in history.
To raze or rise the generations to come,
not to save the world.
For it’ll be here with or without us,
we’re the ones who should change not the world.
For a chance at innocence free from worry,
free from prejudice and borders.
Where we’ll be free from mindless deaths and hatred,
where we’ll all be understood and equals.
So…
Should we start?
