The speaker’s next comment made her take a stunned step backwards. “How do you know what kind of man my parents wanted for me? Am I incapable of making my own choice? Do not let Dimitri’s past or sometimes aggravating presence fool you, he has changed on the inside. He treats me with respect and he has a heart of gold…buried beneath his stubbornness, pride, and rough exterior. How could my parents want anything else for me?” She challenged.
Then in a hauntingly soft tone she added, “who are you to guarantee the opinions and approval of my parents?”
