In Hiding
Weyoun hadn’t tried to run away. He’d just... gotten lost. His master must have dropped his leash, or had it pulled out of his hands, and by the time Weyoun had noticed he was gone, he was nowhere in sight. After that he nearly panicked, and before anyone could notice the unattended Vorta with the trailing, untethered leash, he’d bolted.
He didn’t want to be a runaway. Runaways were punished and hurt. If he was a good pet, if he did as he was told, Master gave him enough to eat and a warm place to sleep. But now he had no idea where Master was, he’d run away even if he didn’t mean to, and he was alone. Bad things happened to Vorta who were alone, who had no masters to protect them.
Eventually panic faded enough that he stopped running and started looking for a place to hide. He didn’t know what else to do, and he was tired and cold and his bad leg was starting to hurt the way it always did when he walked upright for too long. On a side street, he spotted an old, run-down looking vehicle; it must have been ancient, considering it still had wheels and didn’t hover like regular skimmers. But it looked like it might have been abandoned, and Weyoun didn’t question the stroke of luck. The first door he tried was locked, but the back door hadn’t closed all the way and he was able to get it open. Weyoun crawled inside and curled up into a tight ball on the back seat, trembling. He had no idea what to do, but he was too tired and frightened to think about it. He should be hidden enough to rest here for a while.
As luck would have it, the lost Vorta was fast asleep by the time the owner of the very much not-abandoned vehicle returned...

Human?
Jasper didn’t know who this was, but he didn’t reek of Crystal Gem scent like everyone else seemed to. The corrupted Gem, who’d escaped after Steven tried to heal her, lumbered forward with the intent to investigate. She was huge, and anyone else might have been scared off. If Dakota stayed where he was, the corrupted quartz might have been impressed.
Once she was nearer, she huffed a loud huff and swayed her head from side to side as though she was inspecting him. Were she not in her corrupted state, she might never have wanted to be near him. As she was? The Gem was more intrigued than anything.

❛ I have a question about the whole time travel thing. You know how I kinda caused that paradox with the letter and the episode? Will space and time fold in on itself like it does in The Doctor Zone Files in that one episode? ❜

‘‘ while your math is almost close to perfect ---------it seems like you don’t have a set way in how you do it. have you ever consider in maybe using 22.7 instead of 3.14 ? as strange as it sounds , it’s actually proven to be more effective. in my case at least. ’‘
‘ hoodies are one of the most powerful and underappreciated articles of clothing. cold? put on a hoodie. raining? put on a hoodie. no bra? put on a hoodie. nothing to wear? hoodie. cripplingly low self esteem? you already know. so versatile! so multifaceted! ’ [Dakota bc yes i did dig around just for a starter-]

“I’m here- I’m here, now” [Dakota]
Weyoun had seen no one but his torturers in over a week. An accident in the timestream when they’d been traveling to the past had flung Dakota, Cavendish, and Weyoun into the future - and the future had never been kind to Weyoun. The people who’d captured Weyoun were not the same Gamma Quadrant slavers who’d broken him in the first place, but that hardly mattered. To him, now, it was all the same.
They’d mercilessly tortured and assaulted him, deaf to his pleas, and though there’d been talk of selling him off or renting him out he had not yet been moved from the same dark cell where he’d first been placed. Currently his wrists were chained behind his back and hoisted in the air, cruelly twisting his shoulders and forcing him to bend over as far as he could, though the iron collar around his neck and the chain attached to it restricted that range of motion. A number of broken ribs and a fractured forearm made his position substantially more painful, and his already-twisted leg was trembling, hardly able to support his weight anymore. He’d been muzzled like an animal, and they’d even taken his clothes, leaving the many cuts and bruises on his body in full view.
From his position he was unable to see the door, but heard it open and started trembling uncontrollably, anticipating more pain. That voice... almost sounded like Dakota... but that had to be wrong. He’d been separated from the time travelers who’d adopted him, and it was only wishful thinking, imagining they’d found him after all...

“Ah, hey! Sorry for the delays in opening up shop today,” Greg said. He’d only just gotten back to the carwash after helping the Gems clean up the beach. Things around Beach City had been pretty crazy as of late. Nanefua had given the all clear for citizens to come back out of hiding, the diamonds were hanging around and the Crystal Gems were trying to help them, and as for Greg? He just was glad that his son was still alive. What Greg hadn’t expected to see was someone hanging around the carwash when he got there.
“Something came up, and I needed to be away for a while. Sorry about that,” he said. He hadn’t even really had a chance to change out of his suit yet. That could come later. Greg just had to see if Dakota here needed help.
“Welcome to It’s a Wash,” he said. “Can I help you with anything?”
