Another night of December, another holiday party in a sprawling loft that Wesley couldn't dream of affording any time soon, thrown by one of his co-workers that also happened to be a friend of a friend for Sienna, though that never surprised him. For the way the city could feel so overwhelmingly large, filled to the brim with strangers they might never meet, somehow she always knew the people he didn't expect her to. Maybe she had a better capacity for remembering names and faces. Still, she was his perpetual plus one and (usually) vice versa, the two of them sequestering themselves off to a corner of the house, nestled on a couch. "I'm not saying I don't have faith in you, I'm just saying I didn't think you'd outrun the guy in heels." They were recalling a stupid memory, his hand landing on her thigh as he collapsed into giggles. He was a good level of tipsy, his body feeling warm as he leaned close to his best friend, enjoying the closeness. He turned his head slowly, catching her gaze and once again struggling to keep his laughter at bay until he was breathless and then just staring, noticing the way her eyes seemed to genuinely sparkle.
