ok i've given in... new blog incoming, i need a fresh start. i'm gonna bring some threads over i think but i'm gonna likely drop most.

“oh, so, you think i’m cute?” conor knew he was walking on thin ice at this point, but he enjoyed seeing how far he could test her. "come on, don't you think you can take five minutes away from whatever it is your doing to give me some imani time"
"i say don't start and there you go, starting." imani threw her head back in frustration, rolling her eyes. she turned around in her desk chair to level an unimpressed stare in his direction as he spoke. "first of all, i'm doing important shit right now, okay? second of all, you didn't even say please."
“oh?” she asked as if she didn’t know what on earth he was talking about. her heart was pounding in her chest, praying he had been referring to anything else but that damn voicemail. “what was it?"
for a moment, chandler had thought that maybe she would have just admitted it then and there, but it was evident she'd rather pretend she had no idea. or maybe she did have no idea. he couldn't read her. "you must have butt dialled me, i guess... you were talking to someone about me." he looked down. "said some interesting things."
"well next time enjoy your whimsy in private, would you? it's fucking humiliating." unfortunately for him, her hearing was impeccable. to her credit, though, she was willing to wait patiently for him to enjoy his milkshake until, in a huff, he gulped it down. "says the man who just yelled at me about wanting to be whimsical." still, linde was more than happy to dive right in, leaning forward so that her elbows could rest on the table between them. "listen: i don't give a shit about your family dynamic and, frankly, whatever peter pan syndrome you have that makes you complacent enough to give up your rightful spot as the head of your family pisses me off." she was envious, really, but she'd have rather swallowed acid than admit as much to his face. "but i think there's a way to help each other and come out of this each getting what we want. for me, power, and for you the freedom to forget about all the responsibilities you certainly can't handle while someone else takes care of things."
salvatore had half a mind to order another drink in the hopes it would bother her, but then he realised that actually wanting her attention for his stupidity was worse. so, instead, he sat there, waiting for her to get to the point she was so clearly eager to make. linde was so different to him, the kind of person he supposed maybe his father would have loved. he was too spoiled, too incapable of being serious, disinterested in marrying young and making sons that obsessed over guns and violence. he was no better, he knew that, he just had zero interest in having to take on unnecessary responsibility. case in point: he scoffed at her interpretation of him, but she wasn't that far off. not really. "rightful spot." he echoed incredulously. "what? by birth?" a scoff followed, but he couldn't pretend he wasn't intrigued by the offer she was laying on the table. it was almost too good to be true. "how exactly do you propose we go about achieving that, exactly?" he asked, though his brain was lingering on a specific thought, an idea of what she could mean that seemed far too outlandish.
"Yeah, I meant it," Natalie replies with a tilt of her head, a grin pulling at her lips. "--but I have a really fucked up sense of humor, so depends on how much you want to take it as a compliment."
Zoya was playing coy, so when Natalie doubles down it inspires a smile and she shrugs. "I have a murderer for a brother and a plethora of other issues. Maybe it's just a match made in heaven." She replies and then, after a beat, goes on. "Or something like that."
"Out of the question." Regina answered, no hesitation at all. "Also, rude of you to insinuate that being with me is not enjoyable. People would pay money to spend this much time with me."
It was becoming increasingly clear that he was foolish for asking questions like that, but he couldn't help himself in this case. "I'm not insinuating. I'll state it very plainly, I don't find it enjoyable. You're like a mosquito or something. Buzz off."
anisa furrows her brow, a slight shrug falling from her shoulders, "well... we talk about my job pretty often and i realized we don't really talk about yours. so... i was just curious really." they hope leyla's not offended for some reason, not setting out to cause any problems already, "i mean, we don't have to talk about it if you don't want."
"well that's because yours is far more interesting." leyla brushes it off, now realising that she's probably being far too cagey. the problem is, her job isn't really one she can just... talk about. so she has a flimsy cover, which works when you're just going on dates, but she likes anisa. which makes things... complicated. "it's just boring corporate bullshit. lots of meetings that could be emails."
" how much ? " the question comes a little too quickly, curious gaze anything but subtle as she glances over at the other. " i'm all for favours between friends, but i'm beyond broke right now and can't give you this face card for free. "
francesca's mouth opened in surprise, completely derailed by the frankness of hannah's response. "uh, how does..." she reaches into her purse with the hand that isn't holding the blouse, fishing out bills from her purse. "—fifty dollars and i buy you a meal sound?"
" YOU DID NOT LOOK FOOLISH ! i think it was very brave of you to tell me !" zenith tries emphatically as she attempts to meet zora's gaze before her shoulders are slumping a bit with defeat . or perhaps in this instance it's guilt . she toys with her fingers idly , gaze lowering and voice softening with sincerity as she tries to add , " ... i was honoured that you choose to tell me ." zenith is suddenly glad that she isn't meeting zora's eyes as her next question comes . she swallows . " well , it was — quite clear that you were hiding it . i didn't quite know what to say when it seemed clear that you rather not speak on it ... " not a lie , but not quite the truth either . the very concept makes her stomach roll .
no matter how kind the phrase is intended, zora can't help but scoff and feel belittled. she swallows the lump in her throat and scuffs her boot against a stone, pacing in the small amount of space they have because she can't help herself. "i came to you so earnestly and you let me stand there and say it. you let me be cagey and quiet and..." she frowns, bothered by the notion that it was obvious in some fashion what she was hiding. her irritation bubbles up and she frowns at her shoes for a moment. "how long have you known, then? tell the truth. when did you figure it out? how long did you let me pretend i was getting away with pretending not to be a stupid princess?" she utters the title with disdain, her hatred for it clear.
her eyes stay glued to her computer screen when she hears the elevator ding, already knowing who would be here this late. the only other person who's pathetic enough to continue slaving away in the office past midnight on a friday. she keeps typing, even as footsteps approach. "don't tell me you’re pulling an all-nighter too," she remarks before finally looking up, meeting their eyes across the vast conference table, lit only by the soft blue glow of her laptop and the skyline outside. they look just as exhausted as she feels. good. "look..." a heavy sigh escapes her as she shuts the laptop closed with more force than needed. "we both know only one of us is walking into that pitch meeting with a promotion this monday. and i'm not gonna be the one to lose because you suddenly grew a work ethic." ( @thursdaygrl )
it was still a little unexpected, this sudden competitive attitude over a promotion for a job that they hardly loved by any means. maybe part of it was because of who she was competing with, though that in itself isn't a thought river wants to confront. instead they've thrown themselves into a late night at the office, notifications from friends and casual lovers silenced for the time being. spying that familiar head of blonde hair, river pushes back one of the chairs at the other end of the conference table, her laptop resting atop the surface as she takes in darcy's countenance. "oh, here we go..." they mutter under their breath, dropping into their seat with an equally smug look before they open their laptop, nodding. "i really appreciate that confidence. and i'll appreciate it even more when i'm your superior." they smile. "besides, i'm not even here to work tonight. i'm here because i have to book last minute flights for a conference jennifer wants me to go to and i wanted to use the company card. plus, it's closer to the airport."
"mmm, i think i'd rather be difficult. you, of all people, know that what i heard was very important. and something that important is valuable to a lot of people, isn't it? i'm not a businesswoman but i think there's a way for this to benefit us both."
"okay, so you're making it difficult." ronan purses his lips, irritation setting in as he feels his eye twitch. he should have expected it, he knows. "cut the bullshit, alright? what do you want? 'cause i know the only thing you want me to get out of this is that you keep it to yourself."
"hey, i don't - ok, maybe i do need some help in getting a girlfiend. but i'd like to think that i have it all under control." which she obviously didn't. "how can you help me anyway? how are you gonna magically convince a woman to date me?"
peggy's about to interrupt, brows furrowing as she resists the urge to correct her, but she manages "i won't have to magically convince anyone. you can just be your usual charming self and i'll help to highlight all the good parts. it'll be easy."
