Hey, after almost two years of semi permanent dyes, I've made the hard decision to go back to my natural colour, which is a pretty dark brown. Currently I have dark roots, a brassy part and then faded/pastel pink hair. Should I re bleach before going brown? Or can I just put the dye on top of the pink? Maybe a bleach bath? Thank you

Hello :) 

If you use a box dye, most have a pre-lighter or colour stripper in them and you should be fine going over the pink, especially if you choose a brown dye with a red base. You may however end up with an uneven dye job, but that’s rather unavoidable. With a dark brown, you should be ok! There’s no way to tell unless you try, but a bleaching or bleach bath would likely not be needed unless its still very pink. 

You could always use a clarifying shampoo on the week before to try and drag the last of the pink out.

Hi! I've had my hair dyed for a year, and I usually get my roots bleached at a salon. Now, however, I'm kinda broke and can't afford it. My hair is really long (like just above my butt). Will I be able to bleach my roots at home? Do you have any tips? Thank you :)

Hello! You can do your roots at home, but I won’t lie, longer hair is much more difficult to do your roots with and you’ll very much benefit from a friend’s help! You need to work quickly because the bleach will develop at the point you start at before anything else.

Choose a low level peroxide for your scalp (10 vol or less) and a good blue bleach powder. Start at your parting and use a rat tail brush to flip your layers and paint on the mixture.

If you’ve got a friend or two, get them to do the other side, or back or help in any way they can :)
