hey! don't know how long ago you commented on my art, but I just wanted to tell you my comic is set in a fictional place—a futuristic vague-merican city that's become sort of a pocket hub for immigrants due to basically a corporation sponsoring fair labor... all the characters are immigrants from various places and I wanted the landscape to reflect that. however, if there's something problematic with the way I'm doing this, I'd love to have your input!
thanks for responding to my comments! yeah, i was afraid it was gonna be another Blade Runner-esque setting that fetishises East Asian languages and cultures - since in that film they have a max of 2 Asian characters, one of whom doesn’t even speak, out of a city full of civilians living amongst / using Asian cultural artifacts (e.g. that noodle shop Deckard sits down at at the start). but from what you’ve summarised it actually sounds very promising! especially the bit about corp-sponsored fair labour. that’s a refreshing concept in a global economy that exploits third world labourers (who are often African or Asian)! i hope your project sails smoothly ^_^
