I have been in the Tiny Gym doing a strength workout. I hung my twentieth medal on the hanger tonight. I forgot to put my Garmin on when I started my workout but I know I got a solid 30+ minutes in before dinner. Hubby is in his workshop pulling the heater for the Mk1 Cortina he is restoring to pieces to see what lurks inside. He was so excited with what he found he brought it inside to show me. Will you just look at the excellent condition of this 1963 heater core. The Mk1 Cortina he is restoring is a standard government issue car used by Post Office staff to carry out their duties back in the 60's. Hubby is restoring it to original condition. We call the car Pat, because, Postman Pat, our other Cortina is just Tina, my car is Sooz and hubby's is Hacman. Do you name your cars?

  Amazon Warehouse deals are the best. I bought this heater core for my 2008 A4 for 6$. The website said it was slightly damaged, but for 6$, I couldn’t pass it up. As you can see, the inlet and outlet were both damaged because of inadequate packaging. Oh well, for a 90% discount, I’ll take this challenge.

  To fix the damage, I had to look back on a high school shop class experience. I recall turning a flat piece of aluminum into a bowl using a lathe and friction, this process is called metal spinning. I figured that if I reversed the process and spun a correctly sized object in the hole, I could heat and reform my damaged heater core. 

  Well, it worked. I turned a piece of scrap Delrin on a lathe to fit the ID of the heater core ports.  I then used a drill to spin the Delrin into the ports, the heat from friction and pressure was enough to stretch and reform the aluminum. Like new for 6$.

Decided it was about time to man up and finally do my heater core. Damn jeep was running at 40 degrees and that is no way to drive to work.

While I was in my sewing room Hubby was out in his workshop working on the heater for his Cortina resto. Judging by today's weather we are really going to need a good heater.
