David becoming the most popular name headcanon for crying child does something to my brain because something I’m not sure how much I’ve talked about is that Heather was mostly taken care of by her brother David as a child who she had an awful relationship with. So the idea of her naming her kid after him is so intriguing. Like she’s trying to use it as an opportunity to show that she can be the better caretaker or mentally get back at him for everything. Except this is a whole individual human being we’re talking about. Throwing up and sick over this.

Me: but… is it really okay to make this murderer character an amab trans person? Doesn’t that buy into the trans predator trope?

Angel on my shoulder: this character was already heavily steeped in queer coding including an explicit queer gender identity. All of this was either pulled thoughtlessly from queerphobic horror movie tropes or used to create a sense of creepiness or perversion within the character.  Your only options are playing into these tropes, erasing queer themes or trying to do better yourself. By choosing the latter, you give yourself the chance to prove that you can represent yourself better. By making this character’s queerness something detached from their actions and giving them a real personality based on your own experience and fears does more aid to anyone who might read this than the original media did by existing. Just don’t come to resemble what you despise and you’ve done no wrong.

I’m so used to calling crying child Evan but I might switch his name to David because Heather naming her kid that after the abusive dynamic she lived through with her brother David fascinates me in an unpleasant way.

Some of you guys will change a character’s outfit and decide to turn them into an oc and I had to make William Afton a Roma woman cartoonist with a different name before I finally decided “maybe this isn’t the same guy anymore”
