Is Heather still a part of the story? I haven’t seen any art of her since the revamp and was curious where she went

HEATHER IS STILL HERE I PROMISE!! she just...isnt a main character anymore 😅😅 i also had to give her character a complete overhaul because of story details dealing with religious themes....i decided that since i am simply not educated enough about the nuance of islam and then what im doing with the story involving religious themes, i decided to take out that part of her character which was very sad but i figured the safest move on my part.

she is still around tho!! she's a big supporting character, and her and elise are still sapphic af with each other. right now theyre just pining after each other, and being very obvious yet very oblivious about it, and i do want heather to become someone that supports the team without being magical herself. right now thats what im going with, but if i figure out more as i write then i'll definitely do more with her!!

i will show u guys a snippet of her new design tho :3 she's now a mixed girl hahaha

After the hike, the group had dinner at the local restaurant. Sora was still doing his own thing (he’s not a loner and he does not dislike being with the others, he just does whatever he feels like doing, regardless of who he’s with at that moment) as he already had bought some food from the nearby food stall while the others were hiking. 

They had a great time checking out all the new foods and trying the different drinks the restaurant had on offer. Jade was delighted to see the vegetarian options for every dish. And the absence of any pesky paparazzi...

“Fly Away” Quilt basted: Way back at QuiltCon in 2016, I took a class with Heather Jones for her “Fly Away” quilt pattern. I finished sewing the quilt top back in March 2016 but hadn’t started quilting it yet!

I finally basted it up with pins so I can get started quilting. Ollie helped... he is so funny, none of these photos are “staged,” he actually just wanders on to quilts or wants to settle down on them for a nap every time they are on the ground! 

I think for a long time, I was unsure of how to quilt it - which was a bit of a block to moving forward. I think ultimately I’ll just go with straight lines, because it will look clean and modern when finished -- and I know it will actually get done!

There are so many different ways of looking at this question. The world seems to be in quite bad shape these days – though this might have always been the case – and art seems like such a weak response when compared to all the overwhelming injustice and looming catastrophe that confronts us on a daily basis. What is a work of art when compared to rising fascism, climate chaos, the constant and unconscionable abuses of racism, patriarchy and capitalism. Art can often feel like sticking ones head in the sand and I have no real proof that it’s not. What’s worse, art can feel like an alibi for humanity. We might kill, torture, bomb and rape but we can’t be all bad because we also make beautiful things like art. This is normally the part where I’m supposed to come up with the counter-arguments: that art can change peoples hearts and minds. But I’m not so sure that it can, at least not in ways that are significant enough to make a difference. There are no individual solutions to collective problems. So why do I keep doing it then? I have no good answer. I’m simply an artist (of some sort) and that’s what I’m here to do. I sometimes say I’m too much of an artist for my own good. As well, it might also be true that the ‘crisis of meaning and ambivalence towards art that is endemic within the field’ has little to do with such political questions. We live in strange times (and people in every age and era have also lived in strange times.) So many of the ways people have generated meaning for themselves during previous worlds and eras no longer seem to have the required support. A sense of place, connection and community are all difficult to come by today. (I would say that capitalism needs to destroy these things in order to have our labor when and how they need it for the best possible price.) But I also don’t want to romanticize the past. I suspect meaning has been difficult to come by at every point in history. Especially for those who can see through the empty platitudes that are so often used to stand in for it. Nonetheless, I think these are important questions for art to ask itself. I’m all for an art that asks itself much harder questions, whatever form they might take.

One evening, when Heather had just arrived at the Treetop Oasis to get ready to perform, she noticed global superstar Brytani Cho walking over to her. 

Brytani: “Hello, you must be Heather Jones, right?”

Heather (surprised Brytani had heard of her): “Hello Miss Cho, yes, I’m Heather.”

Brytani: “Nice to meet you Heather, I’ve heard good things about you. Baako is very happy to have you as his Opening Act.”

Heather (flustered): “Oh, he is? I’m so lucky he gave me this opportunity to perform and learn. I enjoy singing so much!”

Brytani (chuckling): “You do? Well, I’ve heard your energy on stage is contagious and your voice is magical. So I came to check that out for myself... (with a wink) Who knows, maybe I’ll steal you to be my Opening Act.”

Heather (suddenly feeling vey stressed): “Eh, you might? Oh, I... eh...”

Brytani (smiling): “Relax, little star, you’re staying with Baako for the coming time. Just keep on improving and who knows where the road to fame will take you...”

Heather (relieved and getting a little more confident): “Thank you. Could I... maybe have your autograph? And could we take a selfie together? Please?”

Brytani: “Off course, little star. There you go. Just don’t sell it.”

Heather: “Sell it? Never! You are an inspiration!”

Brytani (amused): “I am? Well well... Anyway, shouldn’t you go and get ready to blow me away on stage, little star?”

Heather (gasping): “Ooh, shoot! I really have to go indeed! Sorry! Thank you! Bye!”

Heather somehow managed to get ready in a record time and gave her best performance ever. She didn’t catch Brytani after the show to get her feedback, but she hoped she made a good impression. Back at her place, she added Brytani’s autograph and their selfie to her little wall of fame.

The elders didn’t risk breaking their back on the slippery slopes, but they did go on some hikes together and spend a lot of time inside in the cosy and soothing warmth of the fireplace. When the teens came back after all their snowy fun, the group would gather around the hotpot, chatting about their day while the food was cooking. The kotatsu table only seated six sims, so everyone took turns to eat standing up. Jade looked at her mother with some concern, her eyes asking her if she shouldn’t be the one standing up instead of Heather. “It’s fine, Lil’ Bear,” Heather smiled, “to be honest, getting down to sit on the floor and then crawling back up is actually more of a struggle than just standing here!”
