                          admittedly  ,  he had been too afraid to meet her  .  yu was a special case  :  a once in a life  -  time chance  ,  even though the emperor has gotten a little closer to the wildcard  ,  the justice was another issue  .  he was constantly reassured that it would be fine  :  but would it  ?  ‘   nanako  -  chan  ...  was it  ?   ‘  his voice broke the silence  ,  grey hues slowly moving to meet hers  .

                   “   o - oh…   ”      her stare, despite it’s   innocence                   felt very   piercing.   as if he couldn’t say   no   to this little girl.       though ;       he’s partly   worried,       seeing as if this were any    other   cat…       kurusu might’ve been       more     willing.   but morgana was no mere pet,   no matter how   insistent    others were of it. he always tries to claw the hands off of those who   touch   him         although…       surely, morgana had the decency to     NOT     scratch the little girl … ?                   a glance is sent his cats way,  who’s head was perked up out of his school bag. he gave an   expectant   look of his own towards his pet         hoping       the     message     was     clear.       she was a nice kid,       &&       he didn’t feel like     dealing     with the trouble of her getting injured because     a   talking   monster   cat     decided to be an   asshole   …   jerk.                  he stared morgana down as if saying     ‘ she said pretty please! ’   which    automatically   means he   has   to.

                  “   sure.     you   can   pet   him.       just   be   gentle,     okay?   ”     he gets down onto a knee,       &&       places the bag down   carefully.       unzipping the bag to fully reveal the cat laying atop his school books       &&       papers.       the cat was now free range for the little girl to pet…      morgana be nice!

this day had never really meant anything good, even before the incident. everything after had only cemented it as a day of tragedy...but now, things were a different.

this would be the first year he didn’t go back to where it had all happened, but he couldn’t very well give nanako her birthday gift if he was back in tatsumi port island. 

he placed the box on the table gently, warning her to not move the box when she opened it, because inside was a cake decorated with light pink frosting roses. he gave nanako a smile and said, “you, uh...you bring a lot of light and joy into this world, just by being you. happy birthday, nanako-chan.”
