Heavy weight deflectometer(HWD)
Pavement deflection testing is speedy and easy way to evaluate the structural condition of a pavement in a non-destructive way.The working principle of both FWD and HWD is same but the falling weight loading is used in case of HWD is more than FWD. Impact load is about 10-30 ton in case of HWD. HWD can work on the rigid pavement, concrete pavement as well as on flexible pavement.HWD is used to simulate the loading of heavy aircraft like Airbus 340 or boeing 777.
