Rest

When I think of rest, I remember the words Jesus said on the cross: It is finished. Now rest could be a spectrum that means a lot of things. But what is this rest that we have been invited into? What is this rest that is constantly available to us in every waking day? It's a rest from striving, from running in circles, from building self-made towers to come to our Maker, from trying to finish an endless checklist in order to prove ourselves. This rest is a veil torn in two, transforming orphans into priests, into sons and daughters. This rest is Him, our Highest King coming down from Heaven, closing the distance, and finishing the work. It's Him bringing us into His great banquet, giving us a glorious inheritance. And this rest still stands today. And it is attained by simply believing; by simply taking the hand of our King. Now child, don't be afraid. This promise is still available for you today. Now take that step by simply believing. Take your seat in the heavenly places, and feast on all that He has for you.
