So @sheresists and i were discussing an au with @hedefects as finn skywalker and rey palpatine !! and we imagined ben is definitely emo, keeps to himself, and probably only joined the track team because finn, realizing ben is built like a house, could be an asset to the team. we were thinking of finn as the all star jock, sociable friendly, and the type of cool guy that you’d be like : who’s that weird kid following you around & he’d be like, oh that’s just ben. don’t worry about him he doesn’t talk. but long story short , we imagined that ben would definitely be a good athelete, those skywalker genes like finn, but everytime rey comes around, he does really poorly. especially funny since he never realized rey was on the track team until finn pointed her out. now he’s falling on his face, embarrassing himself and finn thinks it’s hilarious. and because , of course the skywalker cousins have a pool , finn thinks it’s a great idea to invite rey over to hang out, and try to get ben out of his shell. rey, of course, brings her buddy poe (not featured) and it’s cute ok.

a thousand times, he’s gone over this.  again and again, lando has thought about what he might say to his son, when they were reunited.  all these years, all that searching -- saving child after child from the hands of the first order and hoping beyond hope that one of them might be his own, his boy.  and now here he stands, with a new name, a new title, a look in his eye lando recognizes.  he carries himself with a straightened spine and a confident temperament, and in every way that he is a stranger, he is also as familiar to lando as his own reflection.

so what to say? what to say to his son, who’s name is now finn, who saved himself from the first order, who stands at the forefront of the new resistance? will he want to know? will he believe? lando breathes in, swallows, steps forwards.  ❛ you’re settling in okay? ❜ cloud city has long since stopped being a mining operation ; where now it exists to house the children who’s families cannot be found, it has opened its doors as a sanctuary to the resistance.  it seems an easy place to start.  ❛ if you have need of anything, all you have to do is ask. ❜

“hey,” cup of caf is abandoned and bodhi sits upright in the chair he had been slumped in, datapad set aside as he leans forward and holds hand up in a gentle, soothing attempt at trying to keep the young man before him calm. bodhi recalls what it is like to wake up in a strange medbay with not a familiar face in sight and the last memory in your head one of panic and pain. when he’d heard the defected stormtrooper was laid up for force-knows how long it had been an easy decision to stay at his side.

waking up alone and trying to get answers was terrifying. bodhi will not let it happen to this young man - FINN, he was told by poe. “hey, it’s okay. here, do you think you can sit?”
