@anon ALSO they have a tendency to throw iron man down everyones throats a lot so (like he better not be main character number 2… or 1… istg). also i have a feeling the less steve centric the film is the less bucky we will see!!
the mcu is so far up tony stark’s arse it’s a miracle anyone else gets any screen time
milton or dante? also tolkien or rowling
[high pitched keening]
Milton I think. Paradise Lost has one of my favourite depictions of Heaven, ever.
I love Dante’s Inferno because the language is astonishing. It makes me shiver. His circles of hell are great because we can still partition society based on the sins he described; I also love the INTENSE SHADE he throws at various members of society.
But overall I do think Milton..? It has such scope, such intensity, and you can see it in a way that you cannot, perhaps, visualise Dante’s version of Hell.
Tolkien. I’m typing with my eyes shut because this feels like blasphemy! I read lotr before I read hp and now, having studied much more Germanic and Teutonic literature I love the ways he has used that style of writing. The description Gandalf gives to Pippin, about the place after death, gives me such a sense of melancholy peace. I also love his essays on Beowulf and fairy stories, and his shorter stories - like Smith of Wooton Major - will always be with me. Actually, Smith of Wooton Major is one of my favourite stories even now and it reminds me of The Faerie Queene, the masque by Purcell based on Edmund Spencer’s epic. It’s just such a lovely story.

heenrywinter replied to your post: is there anybody’d like to send me a letter? i...
I know in the uk it has to be an “official letter” like a bill or from a bank or something. So i’m not sure a personal letter would work?
it actually would! i looked it up on the library website & "official" letters work, but personal letters do too- just needs to be something that's obviously been processed by the post office and has my name and address on it. also i get all of my bank statements electronically ? so .. that's a problem there
thanks for yr concern though :*
