My Skin Care : Basic Night Routine
Hello, tumblr!
Today I’m going to share my skin care routine, especially my night skin care routine. It is the most basic routine because at the moment I haven’t invested to buy anything fancy or on trend since early this year and i’m broke, *college student sobs*.
Before we jump to the list of skin care products, I would like to say that my skin is oily, acne-prone, having hyperpigmentation, sensitive, and sometimes dehydrated, big pores and acne. I couldn’t show the picture because I am a coward, I feel anxious to show it haha. But also I am so lazy to upload it so I just gotta describe it.
Short long-story, I always have problem with acne since junior high, it was getting worse when I turned 20. I got cystic acne and actually these acnes are annoying as hell. I tried so many skin care stuff since my early teenage but I guess I slowly learn my mistake and this is my skin care : night routine.
I always do it like this
Double Cleansing
Toner
Moisturizer
Oils / Treatment
Double Cleansing
Double cleansing is so important, especially if you use makeups every single day. No matter how thin you wear it, you still need to get it off your face before you sleep. It gives the skin to breathe again.
I like makeups despite being an amateur I am, and having your hyperpigmentation is not cute, I tend to use bb cream or foundation to cover the imperfection. It is becoming a routine that I feel like naked not wearing it. It was so bad that I felt that way, I want to be free of foundation. But it is so hard to not feeling down when I see myself on the mirror, then I watch Hailey on youtube. She is very open about her opinion on foundation free, so I kinda motivated and I’ve skipped using foundation for 2 weeks now.
So, just like others, I double cleanse using oil based first and then face wash. I use heimish all clean balm. It works so good that I feel like I don’t even need to double cleanse (but I still do). They claim that it won’t make your skin dry and so, but it did dry my skin sometimes but not that bad. I used to -not that harshly but kinda rubbing it a bit too much, nowadays I only rub it lightly not giving any pressure to my skin.
After I wash the oil, the next product I use is Simple refrehing facial gel wash. I know this brand firstly I went to Guardian (it’s like the drugstore, you know). what caught my attention is their brand name, Simple. It reminds me of Hada Labo, like they just doing basic skin care that mostly for sensitive skin. And as a very cautious person I am, I would love to try skincare for sensitive skin rather than oily skin, cus they sometimes tend to make my skin drier that it should be. So I bought it! and I guess I like it?? I had tried Cetaphil before, and cetaphil is also a doing-nothing-cleanser. So if I compare both cleanser, I would go to this one ‘cause I feel like it cleanse but not leaving my skin that squeky clean afterwards.
Next I would either : toning or exfoliate or straight using moisturizer afterwards. I don’t always do toner everyday, I feel like I don’t really need to. I only do toner if I want to have cool sensation. By the way, I use Simple Shooting Facial Toner. I’ve been using Simple products these day. Like I said before, they are safe enough for my skin, so I use them.
For exfoliator, I only do it once in a week. I don’t use physical exfoliator because it broke my skin barrier, and chemical actually way more better. I use Neogen Real Cica Pad. It is a half physical and half chemical exfoliator. Why do I call it like that because as I notice even the pad is doing a work to do the exfoliation so it is a half-half product. The reason why I use this is because it is made for sensitive skin. BHA or AHA exfoliator in the market usually so strong that it may react badly to sensitive skin. I, like I said, trying to avoid irritation as well, choose this one. And I actually like it, but because the product doesn’t really give the tingling sensation some people might think they haven’t exfoliated thoroughly.
For moisturizer, I usually use Hada Labo Gokyuujun Ultimate Moiturizing Milk. But since I got discomfort from the texture and overly moisturizing, I got another product for moisturizer. I use Simple Hydrating Light Moisturizer. I like the texture. It is very light, it is absorbed very fast as well. It may be the dimethicone that make it matte finnish. My initial impression was not that good, it gave that warm sensation after I put in on my face, but after several usage it starts to fade (the warm sensation).
Additional : Face Oil!
My friends and I went to Semasa last month. We strolled the hall and actually there is this booth selling organic beauty products. They put their oil products, there were marula oils, rosehip oil, squalane. I’ve been curious about squalane and bought it. I use the oil after or mix it with moisturizer. I still don’t get any significant change but It doesn’t break me out, so why not. and it gave me thta extra suppleness afterward without being too greasy.
It’s been a fun topic, skin care, to share. I wish to update more in the future!
