journalism is about truth—at least, that’s how you’ve always seen it. pressing where it hurts. digging until you hit the gold. if you’re being told to look elsewhere, then you’re definitely on the right track. and, for the most part, you’ve gotten your way. investigative journalism is your very own match made in heaven. until—well. until you hit a wall, and you can’t quite manage to get through to this one. alex isn’t the first to notice your frustration, your restlessness—but he is the first to linger. late nights at the warehouse. hacking into the local police’s database for leads. downloading it all into a flashdrive and sending it your way inside an unsigned envelope. you’re ecstatic—unaware of alex’s identity as your anonymous helper, but ecstatic nonetheless. you’re smiling again, grinning at him like you’ve rediscovered the sun. and he finds that he likes seeing you like this. loves it, even. showing him your theory board. newspaper clippings. names and suspects. jewelry theft connected to auction houses. he starts to like it a whole lot less when he realizes he might accidentally wind up in one of your headlines.

the fact that alex’s file is missing so much information and the sticky note says to keep a printed copy this boy has been erasing the info they have on him 😂 (as he should)

the cops got nothing on alex albon!! he’s just another law-abiding, tax-paying citizen. and if his file is constantly being redacted and missing information…. well, that’s hardly his problem. but law enforcement still having his fingerprints annoys him. he can’t seem to get rid of them—if he were hacking into their archives, of course. which he is not. just to be clear.
