Hi everyone! It’s been a very long day so I’m heading to bed now, but a few notes about roleplaying before I go:
All teams have been more-or-less approved, so please post starters and begin interactions as soon as possible! Remember, this portion of the heist should be wrapped up by 6/8 in order for teams to receive their monetary reward for their completed threads.
If Chatzy is a better venue for your team to roleplay out their assignment, feel free to go with that route! A team member will simply need to note down the transcript and submit it to the main and/or publish it on their blogs once the assignment has been completed.
Since these team threads will be covering several days and/or major happenings, in the interest of time and priority, threads can jump from one day to another, or one discovery to another. Jumps in time and/or location, if made, should be clearly noted, and a summary of non-roleplayed action can be provided as a bridge between different scenarios.
For starters, players can link to a private post with any “Background Information” or such, and have the starter begin at the point right after all the action in the Background post has occurred. An example of this can be found here.
If you have any questions about plans, outcomes, or any other aspects of this process, please feel free to message us anytime!
MUNICH, GERMANY // 5 JANUARY 2016 // 10:14 AM / BACKGROUND INFO
Team One: To find out how Marianne found the Heist Society, investigate Klaus’ study, and find out how much leverage she really has. (break and enter Munich estate, question servants, etc.)
The small car speeds across snow and ice, the Stadtwerke München Electric Company’s logo printed boldly upon each side as it bypasses evergreens and roads laden with white, a dark bullet traveling pointedly towards its target. Gripping the wheel tightly as she maneuvers through the sparsely shoveled backroads of Munich’s ‘rich country’, a dark-haired young woman drives the lightweight vehicle quickly, with intent, and without consideration for the comfort of her companions. Snowdrifts are stubbornly fought through, nonexisting ruts are made anew, and as they break from the trees, there’s a crack as the wheels send a scattering of stones ricocheting down a ravine. As the destination finally comes into view, a massive manor rising from the barren landscape like a steel castle, she loses some of her tension, releasing a breath half of relief, half of anticipation.
The woman’s name is Adelina Mendalsohn, and she is one of Stadtwerke München’s general inspectors. She is twenty-five years old, has a brother named Gerhold, and dresses like she’s twice her age. Her hair is short and sensible, her expressions are austere, and the German she speaks is stiff and serious. She has been sent from the company on urgent call to investigate a gas leak in the Grünwald district, at the home of longtime customers Klaus and Marianne Sommer. The grey morning sky seems particularly dismal when she is speaking into the atmosphere. Adelina is a no nonsense type of woman. She is also currently in Marseilles, France, on a holiday vacation with her husband of two years.
As the manor looms ahead and the car finds its footing on the long gravel driveway (thankfully salted and starting to thaw) Adelina speaks to her coworkers in a voice that is not at all austere or German. “Alright boys. Let’s make this an in-an-out job. Three hours at worst.” They pull in. In front of the estate, a small pool of people has gathered - servants, butlers, maids - all in their neat black and white attires, shivering in the winter chill as they await help from professionals. There’s a gas leak, after all. This isn’t some run of the mill lightbulb change, Gott verdammt.
The SWM car stops a few dozen metres from the congregation. Adelina parks, blinks slowly once, and without turning her head, asks a single question of her two roughspun companions, who are crowded in the backseat with twin expressions of discomfort. The ride hasn’t treated them well. Nor will Fräulein Mendalsohn. “Wie ist Ihr Deutsch?” It’s a simple statement, but said in a characteristically severe tone. How’s your German?
She opens the door, steps out, checks to make sure that her coat, a hideously vintage thing that was at some point in time fashionable, is tied tightly. Fifty metres away, the receiving party waves a frigid hello. She doesn’t wave back. After all, the game has already begun.
The in-game timeframe for Part I of The Four Winds is 5 January to 10 January.
It’s advised that teams begin interactions as soon as possible if their plan has been approved! The projected timeframe for teams to roleplay & complete their assignment on the dash is 6/3 - 6/8. Every teams that finishes in time will receive 5000 € (for each team member), which will be a great help in bidding and plane tickets for Part II and III of the heist.
Though characters are now in new locations, old interactions from the Chescote NYE event + the days following the event may still continue until completion.
If your character is involved in two different teams, interactions may occur on the dash simultaneously, as long as the tagged dates do not overlap. (For example, a character may be in Munich from 5 Jan to 6 Jan, and in St. Petersburg from 6 Jan to 10 Jan.)
Use of NPC crew members or “friends” is encouraged if needed! Their presence will simply be played out among the team members. These may include hackers, specialists, helpful people met along the way, etc.
Please title each team’s interaction with the family/job/team name. For example, “Puzzle Desk: Team Three” or “Boreas: Team One”, or “Villiers: Team Two” are all acceptable titles. This is just to help everyone keep track of what’s going on.
The slides have been reviewed, and teams who are notated as “ready” can begin roleplaying this portion of the heist immediately. First, however, characters will need to travel to the locations of their assignment. Below are short explanations of how interactions will work. If there are any questions, please message us privately or post in the OOC blog, and we’ll answer as soon as possible!
HOW TO TRAVEL: Title a new text post “LONDON ⇢ MUNICH” or wherever your character is traveling from/to, and post it to the dash. This signifies a change in location, and all interactions will now take place in the new location until your character travels again. Remember that each time your character travels, it costs 2000 €, to be deducted from the Bank.
HOW TO COMMUNICATE: Your team will be connected via headset to all other teams in their vicinity, so constant/intermittent communication should be maintained either through the thread itself, or through a new chat post like so, reblogged by every character who has something to say. For long distance communication, encrypted phone calls will be made, and in similar chat post format, will be reblogged by the two (or more) parties on the call, like so.
HOW THREADS WILL WORK: Each team should start a new thread for their assignment, whether it’s between two, three, or four characters. Characters can act independently (ex: Lillian is at the Munich Bank’s reception desk while Francis is in an inner vault while Alexei and a hacker break into the security system two floors above), but should respond to one another’s actions and communication nonetheless. If a character needs to leave the assignment or travel to a new location, the remaining characters will continue the thread.
Below the cut are the crew assignments for this portion of the heist! All winning bids have been added to the jackpot and will be deducted from respective bank accounts with the next update, while players who didn’t bid or weren’t put in the team they bid for will not have any money deducted. We tried our best to put winning combinations together for the teams, so some cross-crew teams have occurred.
Team plotting will begin immediately. Please discuss with your teammates OOC or IC and submit to the main a brief outline of how your team will accomplish the missive. Roleplaying for this first portion will begin on Wednesday, June 1st, or as soon as a game plan has been discussed by each team and approved by the admins. This will also serve as a minor activity check, so if a teammate doesn’t respond to plotting, please let us know!

BIDDING FOR CREW ASSIGNMENTS IS NOW OPEN
Much as crews bid on the jobs they desired, now individual players will place blind-bids on the assignments they’d like their characters to fill during this first portion of the heist. Players can discuss with each other in their family OOC blogs if they’d like. These teams are only for the first portion of the heist - as developments occur, new assignments will release. Keep in mind which specialties crew members hold! Each team must have at least 2 characters, and cross-crew pairings MAY occur with mutual agreement. Bids are due tonight at 10 PM EST, and can be sent in via ask or IM. A suggested frame is 1000 € - 5000 €, and these bids will also be added to the jackpot. Those who do not make a bid by the deadline will be placed into a random team on their crew. (Please let us know the job and team when bidding! Ex: 4000 € for Team One of The Goblet)
