It’s the most wonderful time of the year! It’s Bloodstock time and we're featuring some of the bands performing. Here is HeKz!
HeKz – Invicta
When an album comes to me, the first thing that I tend to see is the artwork. Before actually jumping in to listen to this record, I had very high expectations from it only because the album artwork is one of the most intriguing ones I’ve ever seen: simple but promising, with the fiery colours catching the eye and preparing the listener to what is about to come – a fiery production. Joining us THIS THURSDAY at The Half Moon Putney are HeKz, who will be performing an acoustic set... “HeKz offer an accomplished brand of prog metal with a hefty dollop of pomp pop - think Queen having a barney with Dream Theater as Rush and Iron Maiden duke it out on the sidelines!” - PROG magazine, Jan 2016 Drawing influence in equal parts from heavy metal legends and prog rock luminaries, HeKz seek to take the original progressive metal blueprint and rewrite it for themselves. Following on from the success of their recent full electric shows, the band recently took to the road in support of Maiden United with a special acoustic set, featuring brand new arrangements of songs from both their ‘TABULA RASA’ and ‘CAERUS’ albums. “We are so thrilled to be bringing our acoustic show back to London,” says Matt Young (bass & vocals). “It can be quite challenging musically, but the result is something really unique. Can’t wait to play The Half Moon in support of the fantastic Never The Bride, let’s rock!” CLICK HERE FOR TICKETS

HEKZ - "DON'T TURN BACK" (Tabula Rasa - 2012)
I came across the name of HekZ when I discovered a new Prog Festival - the Resonance Festival - being held as a cancer charity in Bedford, England this coming weekend.
HekZ are a new, young band, who've released some EPs, but Tabula Rasa is their first album. No doubt you'll hear their old-school metal sound...............think Priest........think Maiden. Promising talent that might just need a bit more time. I'd suggest just sitting back and remembering when you were a bit younger as you listen to this one......
As far as the Resonance Festival, they've lined up some heavy hitters: Anglagard, BigElf, The Enid, Henry Fool (with Theo Travis!), Matt Stevens/The Fierce and the Dead, Lifesigns, The Gift, Synaethsesia, Maschine, and a host of others totally 42 bands on 3 different stages.
The Musicians: Matt Young - bass, vocals; Al Beveridge - guitar; Tom Smith - guitar; Kirk Brandham - drums
