the moment when the lady says that she writes down the stories she hears but when she sees areas for improvement, she changes them -- is not only reflective of gawain's fate (his mother basically shaping his fate, and the way he chooses to change it at the end by removing the sash shes given him) but also of the mythos and movie itself ....... the way lowery has retold the green knight story to be modern but also with so much room for interpretation ... the same way the very nature of mythos is subject to change as the story as passed down, reinterpreted as it is retold ....... the movie itself is left ambiguous w so many ways u can interpret it JUST LIKE THE MYTHOS IT DERIVES FROM ........ oh man
i can say as a chinese woman and a child of chinese immigrants it was very. nice. to see and hear characters w chinese names that arent used as jokes or even as a passage for white ppl to "learn" about our cultures. theyre names. theyre important. theyre beautiful. very nice feeling
its also a rebirth story bc gawain was so easily given everything in the beginning: the horse, the sword, the sash, the axe -- only to lose them ...... now he has to go through all these trials in order to gain them back one by one and when he does so this time its EARNED its RIGHTFUL its the journey through ADOLESCENCE into ADULTHOOD its abt the CYCLICAL NATURE OF TIME its abt GAWAIN GROWING AND FACING HIS FATE
