HEADCANON:

Helena, like many other ghosts, is not just confined to the Hogwarts castle, as canonly proved by Myrtle being able to haunt Olive Hornby's brother's wedding.

I think it's kind of funny that the ministry technically has some sort of authority over Helena, (but i doubt even they know that she's Helena Ravenclaw.)

I imagine this was how she discovered that the diadem had gone missing, perhaps once visting it's hiding place, that or she could sense it the moment it arrived in Hogwarts via Riddle, though the former is more likely.

HEADCANON:

Helena's favourite subject, by far, is transfiguration (specifically under transformation but also other branches), but the one she excels the most at is Alchemy.

[Also note that Nicolas Flamel, the creator of the Philosopher's Stone, was someone she considered a 'curiosity' and created a mental profile for, but was so extordinary in her favourite branch of magic that she did not completely disregard his reality.]

Helena's patronous was a Black Hawk-Eagle.

HEADCANON:

Despite seemingly appearing to dislike houses other than her own, this isn't the case, as she's shown to have quite a good relationship with Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington and the Fat Friar, and can sometimes be spotted in their company, not to mention the other students she speaks to outside of Ravenclaw. 

Other ghosts include Moaning Myrtle, whom Helena personally feels sorrow and regret, given who killed her and the fact Myrtle once was a Ravenclaw. It is unknown how Myrtle takes to recieving the Grey Lady's personal attention.

She is also "somewhat friends" (term loosely) with Lord Draben, known as the Ghost of the Cavalier, which is more just a novelty during events like deathday parties or start-of-term feasts.

HEADCANON

Despite being seen as a "timid" ghost, she will quite happily read next to you or write in her book so long as you do not irritate/distract her, otherwise she will leave immediately.

If you are a Ravenclaw, or if you manage to earn her curiosity, she does not mind you asking questions as to what she is reading/writing. She may even inquire a few things of what you are doing, too.
